I got the flu at 4w2d (with strep) and even took tamiflu for 2 days before my RE said to stop.  Both the RE and OB didn't seem too concerned about it.  The only concern was controlling the fever.  The nurse line said to get tylenol asap, before even leaving for the urgent care.

I'd just recommend having tylenol on hand (my DH had to run and get me some that day) to control any fever.

So far DS has looked good during the NT scan and everything appears to be ok.

FTR, I did get the flu shot about a month before contracting the flu.

The fever is the big concern so if you get the flu and control the fever everything should be fine.

If you get sick AND get a fever, keep your fever down with Tylenol and your baby will be fine

Getting the flu while pregnant does not mean you will miscarry. Overwhelming odds are that you and baby will have no complications. Just rest, drink lots of fluids, and keep your temp in check.

This.

Try not to worry about it. If you fret for the next 3 months about getting the flu, its going to be a long 3 months! If it happens, it happens. Just be smart (wash your hands, don't lick walls...etc) and you'll know there was nothing else you could do to prevent it.

I have not heard that there are flu shot shortages---have you called your local Walgreens, CVS or grocery pharmacy? Somewhere has to have flu shots, they are not in short supply according to the reports I've read.

I am finally over what ever it was I had.  Not sure it was the flu or what.  It took me out of circulation for a full week and then I was just sluggish for another week.  I had a dr appt in the middle.  So everything is fine.  Used Robutussin and Tylenol.  And we both made it through fine.  I was never so sick in my life though.  I missed my Nyquill.   I did joke that with all the coughing and sneezing I did the baby might have shaken baby syndrome.

If you go to the flu.gov website, you can put in your zip code and see if anf where the closest available flu vaccines are.

I had the flu the beginning of this month and it was BRUTAL! I had my flu shot and I think that helped me more than if I didn't have it. My husband got it as well (he didn't have the shot) and he was in worse condition than I was. He's just getting over it now and he got sick Jan 2nd.

I had a fever but controlled it and kept hydrated and I was fine.

As a pp said just because you get the flu doesn't mean you'll misscarry.

The main thing is keeping the fever down (if you have one) and staying hydrated. I didn't eat a heck of a lot because I had no appetite or desire to do anything but sleep but it didn't do any harm to me or my baby.

Just wash your hands and don't touch your face and hopefully you can make it through this flu season without getting sick!

Just curious.  Where have you been the past 5 months?  Flu vaccine has been available since August.  Why did you wait this long to get it?  This is the part of flu season that I will never understand....

I got the flu at 16 weeks.  I couldn't stop throwing up and DH had to take me to the ER as we were obviously worried about the little bambino.  I of course tested positive (FYI:  I got the flu shot 4 days prior but had already been exposed and the shot takes 2 weeks to fully soak in your body).  After getting a bag of fluids and a shot to make me stop throwing up, they sent me home with 5 days worth of Tamiflu and the anti nausea meds.  Can't remember the name.  Baby's heartbeat was in the high 150's so all was fine.  I stayed on top of the Tylenol to make sure no fever spiked and I finally started to be on the up and up...just very tired and coughed my head off.  I had thrown up so much and didn't have anything in me to throw up so I was dry heaving for 2 days.  It was awful...took me over 3 weeks to stop coughing.  I've never been that sick, ever.  You'd be amazed at what those little ones inside us can go through and still be OK!

I have the flu now.  Symptoms started yesterday.  So far it's not terrible.  I have a low fever and runny nose/sneezing.  No other symptoms. Thankfully I'm not throwing up.  DD had it last week so I knew I was probably going to get it.  I am little worried too but trying NOT  to freak out because at this point there is little I can do but just take good care of myself. Rest, drink plenty of water, and I'm trying some natural remedies too, like honey and cinnamon in hot water, lemon in my water, peppermint and chamomile teas, and lukewarm baths to keep the fever down.  I will probably take Tylenol too if my fever gets higher than 100.

I didn't get the flu shot and I wish people would stop judging others for their choices.  I believe in taking the natural route whenever possible, and while I support getting required vaccines, I am just not a big supporter of the flu vaccine.  That being said, I will get one and have DD get one next year because we will have a newborn at home and I know the flu in infants can be very dangerous.

Was this confirmed by a lab? Your symptoms don't sound like flu symptoms, it sounds like you have a cold.
