Dumb IVF question

When does DH provide his er. . .sample? Is it on ER day?

Yes.  They will want a fresh sample on ER day.  However, you may want to (depending on how much time you have before ER) have some samples frozen prior to ER day.  That way, if something goes wrong (he's too nervous to produce, the sample comes out no good, what have you), you'll have a back up.
4/12/10 - Began TTC 8/2012 - IFV #1 - 18 follicles retrieved, 11 usable, 10 fertilized, 9 continued to grow, 2 tranferred, BFN :( 9/2012 - Treated for uterine infection 10/2012 - Uterine infection cleared up 11/12/12- Began IVF #2 12/19/12 - 2 embryos tranferred 12/24/12 - Tested Christmas Eve morning - BFP!!! :) 12/28/12 - Beta #1 - 193 12/31/12 - Beta #2 - 624 1/7/13 - Beta #3 - 7544 1/14/13 - Beta #4 - 31,067 1/16/13 - IT'S TWINS!!!! Mine provided his day of er. They gave us a cup in case he couldnt do it in the office, but dh did just fine.

Me:29 DH:29 TTC since 1/11 Dx: unexplained IF/early DOR/immune issues
Feb'12- Clomid/TI with CD3 &21 labs(normal)& SA-count 6mil/ml,morph/motil OK-BFN
April'12 Ultrasounds,HSG -clear, slight acurate uterus
5/14 IUI #1-50 mg clomid-post wash total motile count 19.3 prometrium 2dpiui= BFN
6/11-IUI #2-100 mg clomid & prometrium post wash count total motile 17.5 = BFN
7/6 IUI#3 with 100 mg clomid, estridiol, prometrium. post wash total motile count 23.3 = BFN
8/30IVF#1 BCPs, Follistim, Menopur,Ganerelix,Novarel.
ER 9/11-8R, 7M, 5F.
ET 9/14 2 embies transferred. 1 10cell Grade 4, 1 8cell Grade 4. No frosties. BFN
IVF#2 BCPs, Follistim, Menopur, Ganerelix, Novarel, Baby Aspirin
ER 12/5-16R, 12M, 8F!
ET 12/10 5dt! 1 fully expanded blast & 1 early blast. No frosties. BFN
2/13- Saline sono revealed a polyp. All additional labwork coming back normal. Genetic screen revealed DH has MTHFR deficiency & I am a carrier for it.
3/13 hysteroscopy & polypectomy
3/27 Began working with Reproductive Immunologist Dr. Kwak-Kim. Found High NK cells, High DHEAs, slight hypothyroidism, tendency toward blood clots (High PAI-1)Began synthroid & metformin 4/19.

DH provided on ER day while I was being put under but I agree with pp about having a back up. When I woke up from anesthesia, DH told me that the sample had been worse in quality than all the others before and he might have to "donate" again. I was really worried but it ended up being enough. Next time around I won't take any chances.

This. We had some frozen just as "insurance" in case DH had any issues the day off. It wasn't much to freeze and was worth the peace of mind. GL!

2/11/13 - Thawed four, sadly two didn't survive. Transferred two beautiful blasts.

2/16/13 - First BFP of my life!
3/27/13 - No heartbeat at 9w0d. D&C the following day.

4/23/13 - Matched to adopt five new embryos!

Same here, especially since we're MFI we want to have backup so we have a frozen vial ready for next week.

Thanks ladies! I'll ask the nurse about freezing. Though, DH did a bang up job (so to speak) at our IUI so hopefully there won't be any issues.

My office asks for a sample prior to ER day to freeze, just in case something happens. Like, if he can't make it to the office, or he can't get a sample... But on ER day they will ask him for a sample as well, and they will use the fresh sample before the frozen.

My DH always gives up the goods on the day of. We also don't have MFI since DH has Olympic swimmers in his britches so our case could be different from others.
