Won't sleep unless held

My 4 week old DD has started this new thing where she will not sleep for more than 20-30 minutes unless she is being held... by ME.  I do think she is going through the 4 week growth spurt right now based on the way she is feeding, but this whole have to be held thing and non stop nursing is EXAUSTING me!!  I love her to death but I can't get a thing done!

She was doing well sleeping in her rock n' play for 2 1/2 to 3 hours at a time (she doesn't like being on her back in the craddle) but for about the last 3 days, she has to be held to actually get her to sleep for any decent period of time.

She has also started this thing where I have to be the one holding her.  My poor DH has his feeling hurt thinking she doesn't like him.  I assured him this is not the case and she is too little to develop those kind of feelings not to mention she has no reason not lto like him... she has been a daddys girl up to this point.  Even if I hold her and get her to sleep... dead sleep, and then pass her off to him, she wakes up within minutes screaming.

Are these changes in sleep habits consistant with a growth spurt?

P.S. I am EBF

I am EBF and CJ does the same around growth spurts. He just wants to be held and latched to my boob all day long. He also will wake up screaming sometimes when passed to DH. Haha I think it is just because he is too far from the boob because I get him back and he immediately starts rooting around for it like he's starving. It is tough but he always gets through the phases and goes back to normal.

Have you tried a tight swaddle?  That seems to help my little guy from startling or noticing that he's been passed off or put down in the crib.  That being said, I'm having similar issues.  My son sleeps so much better snuggled into me!

I was not EBF, but I seem to remember my little one going through a period (of just a couple days) where this was definitely the case, looking back I think it was probably just a growth spurt she was dealing with.

Definitely sounds like a growth spurt, but have you tried seeing what happens if you let her cry and stir a few minutes? Could just be between sleep cycles and she'll fall back asleep on her own. Maybe introduce a paci? Is she using you to feed or just to soothe? Either way it's fine, but if its killing you and she's using you as a paci, you might as well just give her one. GL!

When my LO was 4 weeks old I did anything and everything I could to get him to sleep, even if that meant on me. It won't be like that forever but at that age, you are kind of at their mercy!

Me too. It is totally normal. Exhausting but that's the name of the game.

My LO is 8 weeks and he does this about every two weeks it seems.  Usually lasts a few days and then he chills out a bit.  It is tiring but equally sweet.  But it does seem to be a phase that he passes in and out of.  It is helpful to know I'm not the only one Sleep

DD does this too. She'll only sleep if she's held or swaddled. We swaddle at night, and she sleeps great. We don't swaddle during the day, but I'm considering doing so for at least a midday nap.
