Hi!

On our first appointment we had to tell the whole TTC history, health and family history. Then it was time to draw blood and have a vag U/S. I had to wait for AF and do the blood test and U/S stuff again at CD3 and 7DPO. DH had an SA, and repeated it another 2 times in 3 months. It was so long ago that I sort of repressed it. There was probably more stuff but I can't remember...

Good luck for your appointment!

I would start keeping track of questions you and your partner have now prior to your appointment. Maybe start jotting them in your phone or on a paper you have with you. You'll think of questions now that I promise you'll forget when you're there. :) Be prepared for the RE (fertility doctor) to ask you a lot of questions about your history, and plan on he/she to order testing for you. He/she may even draw blood and/or do a vaginal ultrasound that day to check out your uterus and ovaries which is a piece of cake and sounds a lot worse than it is. Going to an RE can help restore hope for a lot of people who feel like they hit a dead end after trying on their own for a while. But try to be prepared for anything and you may find success quickly, or it might take a while even with an RE.

 Good luck!

All of what Solisilou said and you'll also likely get an order for a HSG to check your tubes.

They will probably run blood tests on you. They will ask your husband for a sperm sample. They will probably also do an ultrasound to look at your ovaries and uterus. They may do an SHG or HSG (put fluid in your uterine cavity to look at the shape of it). They may or may not do a physical exame also.

We just went over our history and talked about the different tests that he wanted us to do.  He did not do any ultrasounds or bloodwork.  It was much less stressful than I thought it would be :)

My first appt was 12/17, so it's pretty fresh.  We had been working with my OB/GYN previously so I already had a pelvic ultrasound and DH had a semen analysis. We discussed our medical history, I had bloodwork and a physical exam. We discussed further testing and DH was given an appoitment to bring in a sample for a repeat semen analysis, just to be sure previous levels were acurate (we are dealing with MFI for him as well as PCOS for me).

It's mostly just a lot of questions and discussion about testing.  As PPs said, you'll probably discuss/schedule an HSG and bloodwork and S/A for your DH.

Hi!

My H and I both had blood work, his was an STD panel, mine was more involved.

I also met with my RE to go over my history. We also talked about the hysteroscopy to remove polyps.

She did an ultrasound and full exam that day and had me come back on my next cycle day 3 for more blood work.

Good luck!

PAIF response:

One thing to also ask about: their "success rates." How are they calculated? Do they consider a cycle a success with 1 positive beta, with a confirmed heartbeat on sono, or a live birth???

Good luck!!!
