Dairy intolerance and weaning from breastfeeding to milk.

My daughter has a dairy and soy intolerance(causes her to throw up and get a very red rash on her bottom). I do not plan to wean her from breastfeeding any time soon(want her to self wean)  but I would like to give her some form of "milk" in a cup. I know I could pump, but I'd rather not pump milk for a cup. I can if I need to though. She will be a year on Feb 13th. I drink almond milk-is that okay for her to have? It's a nut so I wasn't sure. I'm just looking for some suggestions of things I could do for her.

I am in the same boat.

We just started giving DS calcium-fortified rice milk in his sippy. I think we will try coconut milk soon (after I check with the pedi), as it has a higher fat/calorie content.

I make a coconut milk tonic for DD that has 1 can of whole coconut milk, 2 cups (more or less to your preference) water, 1 teaspoon dolomite powder (calcium supplement), and a little vanilla and maple syrup to sweeten.  Heat it over low heat just until the powder dissolves.  She loves it, and it has the same calorie and calcium content as milk.

I like knowing what's in DD's food too.  The carton coconut milk would work, but it has lots of added ingredients I'd prefer to leave out.  Here's the link to the recipe - I can't take credit for it!  http://www.thenourishinggourmet.com/2008/05/coconut-milk-tonic.html

I've bought canned coconut milk in bulk on amazon, as well as the dolomite powder.  The canned milk was cheaper to buy in bulk (plus it's organic!) than buying it locally.
