Contractions = Lower side/back kidney pain?

I have been having AF like cramping on and off for the past few days. Today I have cramping/pain in my right left side -- kind of like it feels when you have a kidney infection (I don't have a kidney infection).  Can braxton hicks feel like this?

I've had that on my left side for months now- right near where my kidney is so I consider it "mid-back". The doc says its a type of sciatica that is worsened depending on where the baby is sitting that day. If you have any symptoms of a UTI or anything troublesome, I would call the doc asap.

When I had that with my first pregnancy, it did turn out to be a kidney infection :-/
