Blood test

My dr won't see me until I'm 9 weeks (I'm only 5w 2d right now).  Is it unreasonable to ask for a blood test before then?  I know I'm pregnant, but I'm terrified of a m/c and would just like some medical reassurance.  What do you think?  Does anyone else's dr make them wait, and did you at least get a blood test?

If you have no history of loss, there really isn't any medical reason for you to get blood work done. Most Drs make patients without histories wait until about 10 weeks for a first visit. Try to relax and enjoy the ride.

Do you have a history of loss?

My first appt is not until 9w1d and I will not get a blood test. Unless you have a history of loss there is really no reason for it.

No history of loss.  This is my first pregnancy.  I think I've just seen too many sad stories that make me so concerned.

Even if you get a blood test, it doesn't mean you're in the clear.  I know that's hard to hear, but a blood test wont make you feel any more secure.  There will ALWAYS be something to worry about from here on out.

This.  A blood test today would confirm that you're pregnant.  Today.  Unfortunately, it says nothing about tomorrow or any day after that.  Sometimes you just have to trust that things are fine because there's no way to know 100% every day.

I never got HCG testing because I took clomid and my dr said it would be super high cause of that. I didn't get actual confirmation of anything until my ultrasound yesterday. healthy looking bean. :

I won't have my appointment till I'm 9 weeks too, that seems to be pretty typical.  Try to relax.

According to the nurse I talked to HPTs are just as accurate in terms of measuring HCG as blood tests. So I guess if your worried, take another HPT. I am not getting my blood work done until 7weeks and she said she was getting me in earlier than normal because she knew I was anxious.

You can ask, but it might be expensive. Its not medically necessary given that you have no history of loss. Just wait it out.
