gender reveal!

My husband and I didn't want to have a huge gathering for the "gender reveal" so we decided to make cake pops.  We are having a boy so I got white cake mix, put some blue food coloring in it, made the pops, and then covered it in chocolate coating (to hide the blue).  Then we had my parents and siblings, his mom and sister, and my grandparents over and had them all bite into it at once.  We asked them not to say anything for a few days so we could deliver the cake pops to anyone else we wanted to (my other set of grandparents, his grandma, my cousins, our friends and people we work with, and our aunts and uncles).  It was also nice that my mom, dad, and my husband's mom could take some to work to share (since it's the first grandchild on both sides).  It was really fun to see everyone's reactions but not make it super high pressure for everyone to be at one place at one time.

That's so nice! I'm planning to do something similar. Once we find out (3 more weeks to go!) I plan on having our immediate family over and serving them cupcakes or a cake with either pink or blue filling.

Cute idea! And congratulations on your baby boy!

We never had fun with past gender reveals - our families gathered in the same place (on their own) and we gave them the ultrasound to look at. This time we had to go from house to house to tell people and I did the Hershey Bar idea I saw on Pinterest. Congrats again!
