Give me some first names to go with MN Leland...

My post below requested opinions on Leland - and many of you shared my view that while the name isn't horrible, it isn't great either. It's really important to DH to use his Grandpa's name, but because the emphasis is on the first syllable, it can be hard to make Leland flow well as a middle name. I know that family meaning is more important than flow, but I'd still like the name to flow well. Any suggestions of first names that go with MN Leland?

For reference, I like offbeat, vintage names that aren't too wacky. Favorites are Hugo, Graham, Jasper, Leo, Matthias, etc. Our fave girl name is Eloise.

I actually think any of your favorites except Leo go with Leland. I esp like the sound of a 3 syllable fn with the emphasis on 2nd syllable like Matthias or Josiah or Isaiah. Matthias Leland sounds good to me.

Of your choices, I think Jasper, Graham, and Matthias all flow relatively well.

I agree.  I think you are overthinking this, Mag!  Leland sounds like an excellent middle name with any of those names listed except Leo and maybe Graham.  Meaning always trumps flow in my world but I don't even think the flow is bad! 

Matthias Leland Parker (I dunno your last name). 

Henry Leland Parker

Josiah Leland Parker

Jasper Leland Parker

They all sound so distinguished!

I agree.  I think you are overthinking this, Mag! 

 Haha - you're probably right. I just have to find a really good combo in order to convince DH that Leland is better as a MN than a first name. I want something "distinguished," as you put it!

I think these are good.  I removed Milo because I think it's too weak to pair with Leland.  James Leland reminds me a bit too much of Jim Leyland, but I'm big into baseball.

I'm kinda jealous of your middle name that makes the whole name sound cool now.  Ha.

Jasper, Matthias, and Graham are all fabulous names and go well with Leland! Matthias may have an edge over the others because it has three syllables, giving it a lovely flow with the two-syllable middle name. :)

Sebastian Leland- third fave.  I like Sebastian a lot but it seems a bit stuffy with Leland.
