after birth undies

I own nothing but those lace thongs they have at La Senza (Victoria's Secret for you Americans). I hate feeling anything on my butt lol so what kind of undies do I want for after birth?? shorts or full bottoms?? (I HATE lines showing through pants) and what size? (coz those thongs are one size fits all) the month I got pregnant, I bought a pair or shorts that were a size 8..is that medium or large?

I am the same way. That's all I wear. I went out and bought some in large and I plan on wearing yoga pants on the way out!! How attractive will that be lol! So what if everyone sees my big ass with a big pad AND panty lines. La Senza has those table deals and that's where I bought from, there still pretty cute!! And a bonus they come in small, medium and large! No numbers!!

I had to wear high waisted full butt undies after my c/s. It sucked. I'm a thong girl all the way, but it's only for a few weeks.

I wear boyshorts anyway. I'm over the whole thong thing unless I'm wearing something that needs to hide panty lines. I wear scrubs to work and the boy shorts don't show up under my jeans so I only wear thongs on occasion.

I definitely recommend boyshorts. Way better than granny panties.

There is always the seamless full bottoms. I would buy a large. That's what I did. I love the ones from VS. Super comfy and really, you're going to want that and chances are, panty lines are going to be the last thing on your mind.

I highly recommend snagging as many of the mesh kind they give you at the hospital as you can.  They are ugly but you won't care if you stain them and they work with the megapads.  For your own panties after, go bigger/more coverage for comfyness while you're still wearing the megapads.  This ain't thong time, esp. if you tear or get an episiotomy.

If you come on here and vent about lines showing through your pants when you're 4 days post partum, I'm going to seriously doubt you're even pregnant.

No really though...you're going to be bleeding a lot, in pain and not going to want to ruin your lace thongs. Get some huge cotton undies (high waist and comfy) and take some that they offer from the hospital.

I think size 8 is a large?

This. Honestly, you're going to be bleeding quite a bit and fairly swollen and sore down there, depending on what kind of birth you have (the bleeding is true for all kinds, the soreness depends). Your priorities in terms of underwear PP are going to be 1) don't hurt by rubbing / pinching sore areas, 2) can contain the massive pads, 3) you don't care if they get stained. Whatever fit those criteria for you, go for it. I preferred big cotton ones and FWIW I had a c-section.

I wouldn't spend a lot of money on nice underwear. I wore the mesh undies the hospital has for almost 2 months. Every time I went in for post-surgical care (my c-section incision opened and had to be cleaned and packed for 2 weeks), my OB would give me another handful. They hold a pad perfectly, don't rub or snag, and it doesn't matter if you gush blood all over them, because you can just throw them away. And, like a PP said, if you're worried about panty lines after you've just delivered a baby, you need to reprioritize.

Yup!  Comfort was all I cared about.  I used the mesh panties from the hospital but honestly found it easier to use Depends style undies.  I already have some for this time around.  No leaks and throw them away when you're done.  Worked like a charm!
