XP: Shower Favors

My little sister is throwing my shower and she keeps asking for my input on absolutely everything because she claims that she's just not creative and has never thrown a shower before. I'm not sure that she's even attended more than 2 showers. She's also on a budget, so she is going to attempt as many DIY details as possible. I know that I've seen at least one person on here say that she never provides favors and leaves that up to the guest of honor, which makes sense to me because it would be a "thank you" gesture from me for attending the shower. My question is would it be odd or inappropriate to help my sister by making the favors for my own shower? I posted on my BMB also.

It would not be inappropriate, it would actually be fun and give you 2 some time together before the baby comes. I plan on helping do the favors for my shower because I am a crafty person and just enjoy doing those things anyway.

Sounds like a great way to take something off your sister's plate.  If she's asking for help, and you're happy to provide it, I don't think it's an issue at all.

Helping with favors is a great idea! My little sister says the same thing about not being creative, yet she was the one who went to art school. :P

Especially since she's on a budget, helping out with that would be a wonderful contribution to the party.

PS--Edible favors (like cookies/candy) are budget friendly and easy for guests to "dispose" of. :)

I have hosted a lot of showers for MTB's and I have never provided the favors.  If they want favors (and all of them have) then they do what they want.  I let them know how many guests have RSVP'ed yes (plus the ones I've had to call...because they can't be bothered to RSVP) and suggest they add a few extra and that's it.  So...obviously I think it is a great idea for you to go ahead and take charge of the favors.

I think shower favors are unneccesary.  The last couple of showers I attended just had individually wrapped chocolates out on the tables and worked as decorations and favors.

My MIL wanted to give yellow number 2 pencils tied with a blue ribbon as a favor at my shower. You know, they use them for the games, then take them home. Eyeroll . So I told her that I would take care of favors. I made chocolate dipped pretzel rods with blue sprinkles and put them in cello bags.
