1 hr. Gestational diabetes test @ 6 weeks....

Hi there! A somewhat newbie here...I'm 6 weeks and went to my first appt yesterday. Since I have family members with diabetes, they wanted to have me checked, just in case. I took the test and got levels of 160. Normal would be under 130. They are having me do a 3 hr glucose test in a couple days to double check. Anyway, my question is, if you got higher levels on your one hour test.. What was your outcome of your 3 hr test? I'm nervous it's going to come out positive :( TIA

With both of my pregnancies I totally bombed the 1 hr but passed the 3 hr with flying colors.

I also have Family history of diabetes, FWIW.

You could still pass the three hour. A lot of people fail the 1 hour and go on to pass the 3 hour.

That said, when I was tested early at 14 weeks, my OB told me a positive result would be indicative of underlying diabetes, rather than gestational diabetes. You might want to ask your OB if he/she feels the same way.

When I failed the one hour during my first pregnancy, my OB said that 2/3rd of those who fail the one hour, pass the three hour. Granted, this was in relation to taking the test around 25 or so weeks. Good luck to you!

Its not uncommon to fail the one hour.

Last pregnancy I failed the one hour and passed the 3 hour.

No history of diabetes in my family though. I am not sure it makes a difference when it comes to GD. Family history or not, you can still get it.

I think since you are at 160, you have a good chance of passing as you weren't crazy out of whack.  With DD, my 1-hr came back at something crazy in the 200s (can't remember exact #).  Needless to say, I failed the 3-hr.  On the positive side, if you do fail it, it is good to know so early so you can really manage what you eat for your health and baby's!
