Baby Name...

Hi all. My husband and I are expecting baby #6 in just a matter of weeks. We are having a terrible time trying to choose her name so I thought I'd pop on here to get some opinions. We have narrowed the choices to:

Johannah Ruth

Shiloh Ruth

Any thoughts?

Otherwise, I can't choose because I don't like Shiloh and I think Johannah looks really odd.

I'm not a fan of that spelling, but the first one. Joanna looks better, IMO.

Shiloh is a dog's name or a boy's name before it's a girl name.  I don't care what Angelina Jolie has to say about it.

I don't care for Johanna (or the Hs), but it's better than Shiloh.

I would like Joanna Ruth. Both Johannah and Shiloh have a lot of h's when combined with Ruth.

I think Johanna is pretty-without the extra h on the end.

 

Shiloh is definitely a name I'd think was for your puppy before your daughter. To me, it's in the same category as Bailey-a legit name, but it has gone to the dogs.

I LOVE Johanna. 

Shiloh is a dog name.  I could never picture it on a grown adult.

When we first found out we were having a girl, Johanna (JO-hauna) was on the table for us as either a FN or a MN, so that would be my pick.

Personally, I don't care for Shiloh, but it's not horrible.

Joe-Han-uh = Johannah

Joe-Anne-Uh = Joanna

Joe-On-uh = Johanna

Shiloh is NMS.

This is why it reminds you of a dog.

And given that it's a classic, award winning book, there's a good chance your daughter will read it in school.  And it will make her a very easy target amoung her peers.

I agree with all the PPs, Shiloh is definitely not a good option. I thought of the dog from the book too. Don't do that to your daughter. 

I also agree that Johannah has too many "h"s. I think Joanna or Johanna or would be fine.
