Alright- someone teach me how to wear compression hose... sorry if this is long

So- earlier in my pregnancy I bought a pair from Motherhood, it said buy your pre-pregnancy size so I bought a Medium even though I was borderline small according to the chart. They sagged 2" in the crotch as soon as I took a step, it was like the legs weren't long enough so I wore them once and threw them away. My LPN told me to wear compression socks two weeks ago when I had a potential blood clot scare, so I went out and bought five pairs and it totally killed my wardrobe options since they only come in black and white. Well, at me checkup Monday my OB says I need the full hose so I went back to buy another pair and they only have the same pair I had last time, so this time I bought a large. I wanted to kick the lady at the store when she told me "You know, they are supposed to fit tight..." thanks- I wasn't aware that the gap in the crotch area was the norm...

The large fit a little better, I'm at about 1" gap instead of 2" so it's more manageable, but still obnoxious. The sales lady told me if I still had the sagging issue to buy the bike short looking underwear to put on OVER the tights. So yes- maternity granny panties, compression hose, bike short underwear things and THEN my normal clothes?!? Let's see how many times I pee myself trying to get undressed in the bathroom...

So- point is- anyone have any suggestions, other brand recommendations (not the $65 pair from Pea in the Pod since I need more than one pair), SOMETHING to save me from looking like a pre-pubescent boy adjusting my crotch every five minutes?

Lol...  I bought some that were Preggers brand from Amazon.  They were footless, which I liked, but still a total pain in the ass to get on and it was still hot a couple months ago so i hated them even more.  Might be worth a try?

Ask your OB for a prescription for "real" compression stockings/pantyhose. You can get them at a medical supply store. I had to get them for flying while I was 26 weeks pregnant, and the ones they sell at regular clothing stores aren't the same. Compression stockings vary by compression and size, and the salesperson at a medical supply store will measure you for the correct fit. They're more expensive, but, in my case, were 100% covered by my health insurance since they were prescribed by my OB due to pregnancy and I needed them due to a medical issue (i.e., preventing blood clots).

I agree! If you're not cursing b/c it's so difficult to put the damn things on then they're not doing much imo.

I asked my OB about this and she said that normal compression or even active hose would do- I thought that was interesting... Can I get these without a prescription and just pay full price? I'm more than happy to pay for something that fits right, I don't mind the tightness, it's the leg length I'm struggling with.

It could just be the Destination Maternity brand that's got the saggy crotch. I've found they really cater to petite women (the sales lady even told me that they do!). I agree with PPs to check out a medical supply company..

Hehe. I have escaped having to wear them yet, but one of my friends had the medical grade ones and she had to get her husband to put them on her before she got out of bed in the morning. It was the only way she could prevent the horrible swelling she was dealing with.

I love the preggers brand..they are by far my fave so far. I've found that the ones you can get at the home medical stores are super expensive and unless you have someone who is pretty good at measuring you measure you they could end up just as bad as the ones you got at the store. I work in physical therapy and we actually stopped measuring people for them since it seemed like the measurment you took one day wasn't the same as the day the hose came in...gotta love the things our babies do to our bodies!
