pertussis vaccine

Has anyone gotten this vaccine and felt horrible after?

 

My Dr gave it to me yesterday and this morning I woke up with these flu like symptoms that are making it so hard to go on with my day.

She didn’t mention that I would feel sick after or anything. Also my arm feels like its going to fall off, but I figured that would happen.

Just wondering if what Im feeling is from this shot or maybe I might just be getting the flu.

Yes, I just had mine on Monday, and yesterday I was achey and had a headache all day.  I was miserable.  I finally took a Tylenol and I felt better.  I hope your symptoms go away quickly.

I felt icky the night after I had the vaccine, but was fine by the next morning.  Although my arm did hurt for awhile, with that big red bump going away after about a week.

It's one of the toughest vaccines for adults to tolerate well. Most end up feeling flu-like for a bit. I am getting mine after delivery and am not looking forward to, particularly since the flu shot put me down the entire evening that I had it. Yuck. But we do what we need to for our little ones, right? :)

No flu like symptoms for me but my arm was sore (like I had a good arm workout in the gym) for about a week! ... hope you feel better soon!

My arm hurts more today than it has for any other shot and I had it Monday night. It's got a bump and a big bruise now too

Had it when in 3T with DD#1 and it didn't bother me.  Then again I was a pin cushion through that whole pregnancy so maybe I'd gotten used to it?

Yep. You have to remember you just had 1 shot but it was for 3 different things! Your body is busy making antibodies so expect to feel crappy for a few days. DH even spiked a small fever, acted like he was dying. /eyeroll

 BUT it could also just be you getting ready to go into labor too ! ;)

You can't get the flu from the vaccine. He was probably exposed to it beforehand.

I keep asking about getting the shot before giving birth, but my doctors keep telling me that I'll get it at the hospital afterward. I guess I will just wait until then.

I was told this also before.

Thanks for the comments this week has been the hardest for me. Then I felt 3 times worse today when I woke up!!! All I can keep telling myself is that it's almost over and it will be ALL worth it!!!

I didn't have any side effects (not even arm soreness) but the TDAP is known for being one of the more difficult to tolerate.

I got it because TDaP is to protect your LO until he/she can get it themselves, which is a few months after birth.

I really only got a sore arm for a few days. It wasn't too bad. The nurse even gave me a tiny needle because she remembered how afraid of them I am, lol.
