Bellamy for baby girl #3?

Baby #3 due July 8, 2013. Finding out in March if we'll be team blue/pink!

I've seen Bellamy in the past on the site wasn't a crowd favorite but going through the baby name book last night that was the one name my husband and I liked.. and now it's growing on me more!  I know a lot of people have said the first person that comes to mind is Bill Bellamy... I had no idea who he was and had to google him... I first heard of "Bellamy" on Nine by Design, the Novogratz family... they all have very different names but Bellamy always stuck in my mind.

Anywho my thoughts are: my name is Amy... is that weird to sort of have the same name?  My two daughters are Molly and Lucy.  I've always loved the "old fashioned" names but they're everywhere right now... We are trying to stick with a -Y ending or at least sounding so any -IE, -EE, -EY could be contenders as well!

Other girl names we've thrown out there are:
Penny- we put on the reserve list
Ruby- would be her birthstone... how perfect?! (husband hates)
Emily- eh...
Dorothy- ??
Ivy- becoming popular? (husband hates as well)
Aubrey- don't hate it but I don't love it either

Any input would be appreciated!  Thanks!

I want to like Bellamy but it's too masculine for me, even if it's a legit girls' name.

Other suggestions: Verity, Phoebe, Shelby, Hallie, Persephone, Kelly, Cecily

I've never heard it, my first reaction to it is NMS.  I love Molly and Lucy though!!  Some other ideas: Sadie, Lily, Annie.

I have to agree that I think it sounds very masculine, maybe because I immediately think of Bill Bellamy.  I know I say this a lot...but although Im not big on sibsets, the mention of Molly, Lucy, and Bellamy as sisters would throw me off.

Natalie, Leah, Chloe, and Amelia come to mind

I have seen that show and while I want to like Bellamy for a girl, it is just too masculine sounding for me.

I love Penny as a nn for Penelope and Ruby from your list.

Other suggestions:  Audrey (not a fan of Aubrey...Audrey is classic while Aubrey is trendy), Mallory, Natalie, Carly, Sadie, Betsey.

I love, love, love Bellamy it is also pretty high on our list. With your name being Amy, it might be to matchy for my taste, but it could work. Some other suggestions:

I find Bellamy to be very masculine.  I really like Penny though.  You could even do Penelope and still get the same ending sound.

I'm in this camp - which is odd because I've picked a unisex name and I generally love them. But if you love it, go for it!

I really just don't like it. It's in the trend of last names being used as first names....and it's just not a good one. I think your other names are cute. I really like Ivy lately, though if your H hates it it's not going to work.

In my head i'm pronouncing it Bell-uh-me and to me that doesn't seem masculine at all. I don't love it, but I think it is cute. I don't see a problem with it if you like it.

Here's what I don't like about it:

1) It's not a first name.  Even if someone is using it as a first name, it doesn't change the fact.  I could name my next child "Table" and that wouldn't change it into a table, everyone would just think I was an idiot.

2) Even if it were a name, it doesn't fit with your other daughters who have classic, traditional, beautiful names.  I know I joke about this, but I can see poor Bellamy on the therapy couch wondering why mommy and daddy didn't love her as much as her sisters.

3) In general, I wouldn't take any naming advice from someone who names their children "Five" or "Breaker"

4) I definitely think of Bill Bellamy.

What about Bethany? Brittany? Bonnie?

I agree with the PPs. Too masculine, and last-name sounding. I do think it it will sound like you tried to make your name fit into the baby's name, or like a "belle/a - amy" smoosh name. I also don't think it fits in well with the sibset at all.

Have you considered Penelope nn Penny (instead of just Penny)? Has the same ending sound but gives her a more proper/formal first name.

I think Ruby, Emily, Dorothy, and Ivy are all fine. I really dislike Aubrey. Too trendy. I much prefer Audrey.

Other suggestions that fit your criteria and seem to fit the sibset:

Elsie

Sadie

Libby

Julie

I very strongly dislike it. Way too masculine for a girl, especially with your other daughters' names. If you just said the names together I'd assume you had two daughters and a son. I like all the other names on your list more.

I instantly think of Bill Bellamy. If one or more sisters has a traditional, feminine name I always feel bad for the odd girl out with a unisex, masculine, or in this case random surname-turned-FN. I'd be jealous if I were Bellamy.

I really like Dorothy and Ivy. I prefer Penny as a NN for Penelope.

Suggestions:

Rebecca (Becky/Becca)

Heidi

Betty/Betsy/Libby

Carrie

Lorelie

I don't mind it but I do think it's a bit masculine and I don't think it goes with your sibset.

I like the PP's suggestion of Sadie and Annie. Annie is NMS but I think both of those names go well with Molly and Lucy.

As for the other names you mentioned:

Penny - goes well but sounds like a nn (I suppose Lucy is a nn too though)

Ruby - I kind of like it

Emily - love, but I don't think it goes well with the others (not sure why)

Dorothy - the only reason I like it is because I know of a sweet girl named Dorothy who has sisters named Olivia and Lucy; it's a cute sibset in my opinion

Ivy - uck

Aubrey - love it but I think it's too trendy with Molly & Lucy (And I like Audrey as well but it's a little too much of a classic name for your sibset)

Thank you for all the input!  After going through more baby names last night we stumbled upon "Emma" and I think that's the keeper.  Totally different direction from Bellamy but I think it works great with our Molly and Lucy.

To top it all off this morning we found out my husband's grandfather passed away this morning :(

I'm thinking Emma Josephine has a nice ring to it... to honor the great-grandfather that she'll never get to meet.  Sometimes I think these things happen for a reason!
