First purchase for LO

DH and I just made our first purchase for LO. We bought the cutest Winnie the Pooh crib bedding set, I love it! I know we should wait til after the shower to see what we still need, but we couldn't resist. Besides, we felt that all the bedding sets at BRU were too pricey to register for (all around $200 range!) so we wanted to make that purchase ourselves anyway. What pre-shower purchase could you not resist making?

I bought a Lion King bedding set from Walmart. I was so excited to find it there because it had been out of stock online, and the only other stores that carried a Lion King set were the Disney store and BRU- for $160 more! It felt like I was getting a great deal, and I couldn't pass it up.  I loved the Lion King as a kid, and it will be perfect for either a boy or girls room.

My first purchase was small (aside from her dresser and bookshelf for nursery which we bought prior to knowing what we were having) But I happen to come across a stuffed "Hello Kitty" with a red bow instead of the usual pink, I am having a little girl and altho I know I won't be able to avoid the pink, Her nersery is going to be balck and white with a splash of red, and now a splash of Hello kittty things...with a RED bow :)

I bought a Poo Bear while we were in Orlando and we got a great deal on a travel system from Target and I've bought a couple onesies on clearance!  I think it's harder not too once you find out what you are having!

We are using our registry almost like a shopping list. I don't want to count on gifts from people, and I don't want to wait till the last second to buy everything.

We didn't buy anything till 20 weeks, when we found out the sex.  It was a cute little outfit for a baby boy. Since then we've been slowly buying things we will know we need.

We bought the car seat and stroller for the first big purchase and I started buying some cloths on clearance but it's hard when we don't know the sex yet, we don't want to depend on family to buy the big items as well so we are looking when some things are on sale from now until our shower in April.

Oh Geez! This is a loaded question...

I have bought:

  • Furniture
    • Crib
    • Dresser
    • Chest
    • Nightstand
    • Conversion kits
    • Glider
  • Bedding w/curtains
  • Travel system stroller
  • PnP
  • MamaRoo
  • clothing (not a lot but enough)
  • Mattress

Every time someone goes out they some how always manage to come home with onsies... we have a serious issue with a spoiled little girl that isn't even here yet!

I feel ya on the pink...I cannot stand shoving pink down every little girls throat from birth.  jaja  Don't get me wrong.  Pink is an awesome color...I especially love the brown-pink color combo.  But other colors exist and are equally loved by little girls everywhere!

I'm wondering if you are doing the black and white nursery for developmental reasons.  Black and white is awesome for babies because it is easier for them to focus on (along with primary colors).  Throw in some really intricate patters and you will have a very interested baby! :)

I LOVE your original idea!

I bought a Twilight Turtle, some swaddling blankets (had a gift card), and a few outfits.  I'm trying really hard to hold off, but it's so much fun to buy little girl clothes!

We've purchased the crib, dresser, rocker recliner, the bedding set (blanket, bumper, sheets, drapes valences, changing pad, etc), a new lamp (it was on clearance and matched our colors perfectly), a rug, crib mattress, artwork, and some clothing (it was hard to pass up on the baby clothing sales on the day after Christmas since we found out what we were having Christmas Day!).

I am really into interior design so it was really important to me to buy the majority of the nursery pieces myself.  I realized I had expensive taste so I didn't feel comfortable putting the $500 crib, $500 dresser, and $400 chair on a registry, so we bought the pieces ourselves.

I just purchased baby's stroller this week! I bought the uppababy vista with e extra seat and riding board for DD #1 who will be 3 when LO is due. I plan on putting in an order for the dresser, bedding and some decor pieces for the nursery within e next couple weeks. I haven't bought any clothes yes, but will probably buy a few cute pieces before the shower.
