How cold is too cold to go for a walk with LO?

I was reading in a thread below that some people have been taking their LOs on walks in order to get out of the house.  It hadn't really occurred to me to do that right now since it's cold out, but if I can, I want to...I have a 2 year old also and he could use some fresh air.

It's been in the 30s and 40s here. Can you bundle a newborn up enough to go for a short walk in that? What is everyone else doing?

Do you have a stroller or a carrier or would you just carry your LO? I use a stroller and use both visors (car seat and the stroller one) to completely cover from wind and he has been fine. It's been in the low 40's where I am though...

ETA: I dress my LO in an under-onesie, a fuzzy sleeper (they seem to be warmer than a regular cotton one), and then his winter body suit that has a hood. I also put a hat on him. Then I wrap a blanket around him (while he is in his car seat) and then put another one loosely around him, sometimes wrapped sort of around his face to keep him warmer. He usually sleeps through our walks and when we go home he'll wake up and not realize it was super cold out.

ETAA: It has been colder this last week though, but I went out once (I'm lazier than I should be :/)

It's 2 degrees where I am. We walk everyday. As long as you dress your baby for the weather, and cover them up, they are fine. Hats are important because they lose alot of their heat from their dome. But a little bundling, and some sort of wind protector and they will be fine, especially in 30's and 40's. That's not bad at all :)

I've taken LO on two walks in the low 30's. I put him in a snowsuit with two blankets and all the stroller shields up. I think the fresh air is good for him.

We have to get fresh air or both me and the baby get cranky. We go for walks in the early mornings when it's still in the 10's and 20's and so far he hasn't seemed bothered by it. I mean there's millions of babies living in cold, northern climates right? We have this fuzzy, teddy bear- like suit I put on him and sometimes add extra blankets too. His hat has earflaps to keep him covered and I put socks over his hands as mittens. Trust me, you will feel better if you get out and move around!

It's 30 degrees right now and we just returned from a walk. We try to walk every night as long as its not raining and DD is always warm :)

If I'm wearing DD in the Moby (this is my favorite because she always seems warmest this way) I'll put her in her footed sleeper and a hat and then I just wear my normal hoodie and jacket, both zipped up high enough just to allow air flow above the zippers. Last night was really cold so I tucked a blanket between the Moby crosses for extra warmth. The only night this didn't work was one with particularly cold night with wicked icy wind, and we turned right back around and went home because she started fussing when it hit.

On not quite as cold nights (closer to 40) DH will wear DD in the Ergo with the infant insert. If we do that, I put her first in a footed sleeper and then in a Carter's fuzzy bear snow suit thing and hat. DH wears her outside of his coat but between the insert cushion and her suit, she's always been warm.

If we push her in the stroller we bundle her up most (obviously). I usually put her in a footed sleeper and a pair of socks, then the bear suit and a hat. Since we're only walking, we put a thick blanket down in the carseat for DD to lay on, then we wrap the ends around her legs and then cover the top of her body with another thick blanket. Then we close the hoods on the stroller and the carseat or use our bundle me cover. I'm always most worried she'll be cold when she's like this, but so far, even on really cold days/nights, she's stayed nice and toasty. One particularly cold night the tip of her nose was cool and pink, but only once we were a few minutes from home and she slept right through it, so I didn't think she was uncomfortable.

Absolutely!! I've taken LO out when it's in the 20s (not windy though). I just bundle him up in an undershirt, onesie, sweater, fleece bunting, and a blanket on top and pop him in the stroller. I'll put the plastic rain protector over if it's really cold to help shield from the breeze. I really don't get staying inside because of cold weather (unless it's like a negative wind chill or something)--fresh air is so beneficial for me and my LO. He always sleeps better while we'r eout/after we get home.

Greetings from the Great White North. We put our LO in a fleecy "teddy bear" suit over his footie, put some mitts and a hat on him and pop him into the carrier. DH will pull his coat around the carrier if its really cold. We take 4-5 km hikes into town like this; the heat from whoever is carrying him seems to keep LO very toasty. He sleeps the whole time.

Thanks everyone!  Looks like we'll be trying to get out every day now. :)  I have a fuzzy shower-cap carseat cover that only leaves a small opening and can be used on the carseat or stroller, a Moby wrap, and the teddy bear suit many of you mentioned - so it looks like we can keep her warm no problem.  It really hadn't even occurred to me to get out and walk because we're just emerging from that "newborn fog" and my brain is sleep deprived. :)

We go out so long as it is 25 or above. I put CJ in a long sleeved onesie, then a fleece sleeper or sweater and warm pants over that. Then I put him in his carrier with a stuffed animal that has a microwaveable hot pack in it (you could use a hot water bottle wrapped in a blanket) I place ths over his legs to keep a constant heat source. I have a shower ap cozy cover that zips up over his carrier. I bring a extra blanket and throw it over the troller hood to cut out the chill and wind. CJ lives walks and we have been doing this since he was 3 weeks old. He has his best nap of the day during and after walks.

I carry my LO in her Ergo baby and it keeps her nice and warm. I just make sure she has on a good hat and I try to block any wind with my peacoat. I don't dress her in a ton because the one time I did I had to try and strip off some of the clothes while we were standing in an Apple store because she just got too hot quickly.
