~~~~Siggy warning~~~~
Hi, ladies!
On Monday, we had our psych eval and nurse consult. We were all gung-ho about frozen eggs until I learned that my insurance will not cover ANY part of the cycle because frozen eggs are still considered experimental. Ugh. They will cover a fresh donor egg cycle, but I need to clarify what that means exactly (just me or part of the donor's expenses too?). Also, my clinic has not had very promising results with the frozen egg bank they've been using so that turned us off too. I asked about My Egg Bank, but they will only work with affiliated clinics and mine isn't one of them.
So, we're considering fresh, but the wait time for fresh at my clinic is ONE year! We can't wait that long. So, now I'm researching agencies. $$$$$. Yikes. Though the agency donor pool is supposed to be much larger, it's slim pickins in my area for our criteria and I'm not too keen on paying even more $$$ to have a long distance donor. I've also seen some that I like who are not proven donors, and I'm not sure I want to roll the dice on them.
Our next step will be to determine what the bottom line is for our OOP. We'll have to do some kind of financing for the balance...but if the number is too outrageous, I honestly don't know. I guess I didn't realize there would still be so much OOP when I have comprehensive insurance. RE wants me to schedule an endometrial biopsy, saline sono and recurrent loss panel because of all of my losses.
