Waking up EVERY two/four hours!?

I don’t get it…. DD was sleeping through the night(she’s 11.5 weeks) from 8-6am but lately the last week (of course my first week back to work) she has been getting up every 2 hours at night… I don’t get it.

I’ve been following the EASY schedule and trying to figure out the “Dream Feed” hopefully manipulating her to wake up at a convenient time with mine and DH work schedule – just anything besides 5 am, or if she is getting up at 5 not having her get up at 11pm, 1am & 3am.

Anybody have any answers to WHY she’s doing this every 2 hours and what we can do to help her go longer though the night.

Is 8 pm too early for babies to be put down? I’d think anything after 8 is too late.

Growth spurt? Just a phase? I know that doesn't help much, sorry.

No, 8 is not too late. Many babies I know around the same age have a 630-700 bedtime.

It could be growth or it could be the change in schedule since you returned to work.  Is she napping the same?  Is she eating as much during the day?

At this age I'd say to just stock up on coffee and muddle through.

Coffee has been my new BFF!

I think she’s napping the same and eating the same. When I come home and as the sitter it sounds right on key, every three hours she eats has some playtime/tummy time then takes a nap.

After checking with Dr. Google it sounds like 3 months is a big growth spurt time – so hopefully in the next week she’ll go back to STTN or if anything only waking up once.

Growth spurt, you went back to work, and a million other things. And really, it's very unlikely that any newborn that starts STTN that early will continue it forever. I think you really lucked out for a few weeks. Maybe she'll go back to that, but I wouldn't count on it.

ETA: 8 is not too early, it might even be too late, but that really depends on the kid. Mine went to bed at 6:30 at that age.  Also, 3 hours in between naps is a long time at that age.

It could be any number of things, like PPs said. Honestly, you were very lucky your LO was sleeping as well as she was. And, 8 pm is not too early for her to go down. DS has always gone to sleep before 6 pm. Most of the time, babies figure this stuff out on their own and will go back to their regular sleep habits after they are done teething / going through their growth spurt / going through their wonderweek / whatever the cause.

I have no advice. I just jumped in to tell you I'm jealous your LO was sleeping through the night and eating every 3 hours. DS eats every 2 hours or freaks out like he's never eaten before. He also still wakes up about 1or 2 times a night.

It's unlikely, but it happens! My DS started sleeping in 7 hour stretches at 7 days old and continued from there. He's always STTN. So it happens! I doubt I'll be that lucky with new little guy - I'm pretty sure I'll be doomed Stick out tongue

You probably won't ever find an answer and trying will just drive you crazy. I hate to break it to you but this will keep happening over and over again so TRY to roll with the punches. Babies change a TON in the first year so things never stay the same for long. Try and be patient :)

The "big" growth spurts are 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months. And there is a "sleep disruption" between 7-10 months where everything gets changed around for a couple days or weeks.
