Marchesa or Arianne?

We had always thought we would name our baby girl Arianne but lately have thought Marchesa is pretty as well.  They are completely different styles which makes us so torn.  Which do you prefer?

Arianne Grace

Marchesa Jane (pronounced Mar-kay-suh)

I like Marchesa, but I think you are going to be dealing with pronunciation issues.  If that doesn't bother you, I say go for it.

Arianne is just OK to me.

Well, I would pick Arianne

The pronunciation you have for Marchesa is not what came to my head when I read it. I think it might get pronounced incorrectly a lot, and that would be an issue for me. I thought i was mar-chess-uh or march-s-uh

I agree that Marchesa will have constant spelling/pronunciation issues. Arianne is okay.

Marchesa reminds me of a dress at the Oscars.  ( its a fashion designer)

Of the two I would use Arianne. As PPs stated I think you'll have pronunciation issues with Marchesa.

I don't like either, but I think Arianne is the better of the two.

Yes, Marchesa is the name of a high- end fashion label, but it's also a legit name.

I actually don't think Marchesa would have that many pronunciation issues. I would think a lot of people have at least heard of it due to the designer... plus I don't think it's that hard to figure out. Just my opinion though. I personally wouldn't use it because of the designer, but I like it.

Marchesa makes me think of a designer/brand name, kind of like naming your kid Nabisco or Mercedes.

Arianne makes me think of the Arian Nation.

How about Ariel/Arielle?

I do like your middle names a lot! Any chance you would want to consider either of them for first name?

My mind automatically went to the designer as well, but then again, I am a weekly viewer of Fashion Police. :)

Ariel would be a second option to Arianne but I am not really a Disney person so I wouldn't really want that association.  While Marchesa is a brand, it is also a real name as well.  For the middle names...I think they are a little plain for first names.

i'm probably a little slow but I don't know that I would have ever got the pronunciation correct and am not familiar with the designer.

I prefer Marchesa and also thought of the designer. I do think it's a little similiar to a name like Prada or Gucci though, but if that doesn't bother you than use it!

I REALLY would caution you against using Arianne though. Like PP, it reminds me of Aryan and I would never want my child's name to have a Nazi assocation.

What about Adrienne/Adrianne?

Marchesa is Chanel or Armani level of tacky to me. I prefer Arianne. Spelled that way I don't think you need to worry about Aryan references.

Spelled that way probably not, but it sounds exactly like Aryan when Arianne is said aloud.

I don't like either. Arianne makes me think Aryan and Marchesa is a clothing line. What about Arianna/Ariana?

Hm, maybe it`s just me but I pronounce them differently. I say Aryan as Air-ee-uhn, vs Air-ee-anne.

I agree. Marchesa would assuredly have pronunciation issues since it's not pronounced like it's spelled--at the least, most people wouldn't think to pronounce the "ch" like a "k" sound, and I've never heard of the designer.

Well, I like Marchesa as a name.  But it would be like naming your kid Valentino or Versace, which I think is pretty tacky.  You could always name her Georgina  Georgina Chapman is the head of Marchesa I think :)

Arianne I just don't like.  I do think it sounds like the hate group. I  could get behind Arianna I guess.
