wwyd? Need opinions about traveling

 Hi Ladies,

I'm looking for some opinions...next Friday, I am supposed to be going on a field trip with my high schoolers, about 4 hours away, leaving at 6am, returing around 11pm. There several other teachers going, and another kindly offered to go if I am unable to, so supervision isn't an issue, but I'd really like to attend. The kids have put a ton of work into this project for several months and I'd love to see the final result. We'll be taking a bus that has a restroom, so that won't be an issue. I have an appointment the day before at which time I'll get the final ok, but at my previous appointment they said it should be fine. I will be 35 weeks on the day of the trip, and I'm still feeling ok, just a little uncomfortable and tired in the evenings.

Assuming the dr approves, I'm curious to know if you would you go?  TIA :)

I think you'll be ok to go. Just bring lots of water and plenty of snacks, and know that you will need the entire weekend to sleep and recover. ;)

I would go. It's only 4 hours away and you'll only be 35 weeks. You're not likely to spontaneously go into labor/your water breaking at that point. If, by some off chance you do, I'd research where the local hospitals are/if they have a NICU/L&D if there is some dire circumstance that you need to be seen for and cannot wait 4 hours.

I'd go. Just be very aware of what your body is telling you, drink lots of water, take lots of breaks. Use your common sense.

My little miracle.

I think you'll be OK.  My doctor told me not to go anywhere far after 36 weeks.  Make sure you are sitting close to that bathroom!

I'm 38 weeks today, and I'm currently on my way to New Jersey, which is 3 hours away from home. My Dr never mentioned not going on trips. I do just fine for the most part, and I'm with my husband the whole time. We do this regularly. I definitely think you will be fine. Drink, though!

Thanks Ladies!! I think I just needed some reassurance...I was worried that I was putting my 'wants' above LO's potential needs, possibly putting her in danger...perhaps it's the hormones

The route goes through 3 large cities, all have hospitals, 2 of which have top-rated nicu's, and I'll definitely be taking lots of water

Thanks again :)

I would go. My midwife just suggests having print offs of your medical records if you go on a trip just in case you need to go to a hospital. I found that out because I will be going on a trip from Minnesota to Florida at 33 weeks and my midwife had no problem with that.

If you're not having any complications and the doctor says it's ok then go. You're still far enough away from your due date and precipitous labor is rare anyways.
