ET question re: Valium (or the lack thereof)

My clinic gives Valium for ET.... except for me. I'm allergic to one class of anesthetics so they told me I'm not allowed to have Valium. One RE from the practice told me "I guess you better learn to relax on cue! Just think good thoughts." Huh?  Yeah, I'm not upset she's not my RE. I'm going to be doing acupuncture. They'll come in and do it before and after ET (in the room). I'm sure that will help some with nerves.

Did you get meds for ET? If so, did you appreciate it? If not, did you wish you had?

TTC #1 for Dh, #2 for me. HSG clear. Low AMH and endo. Multiple Clomid w/TI cycles - all BFNs. 2 IUIs with Clomid and 1 with Femara - more BFNs. IVF#1 25R, 15M, 15F. 5DT of two perfect 4AA blasts! Positive HPT at 5dp5dt. Beta #1 6dp5dt - 72. Beta #2 8dp5dt - 285. Beta #3 10dp5dt - 793. Both babies have strong beautiful heartbeats! Baby B miscarried at 7 weeks. Baby A is holding on through miscarrying her twin, sub-chorionic hematoma, and complete placenta previa. Stick, baby, stick!

I had no meds. Just looking and talking to DH really helped keep me calm.

Married and TTC since November 2010 SA Normal, HSG Normal, B/W Normal = Unexplained IF
5 Failed IUI's Moving onto IVF, Stims Start 10/27, ER 11/5=27 eggs!, 23 mature, 1 Fertilized WTF?? Rescue ICSI on 12 and we had 3 more fertilize. Transfered 2 on 11/9. Beta on 11/23.

I wasn't given anything for ET. Should I do another IVF I'd ask for valium only because of my nervous bladder. The transfer was not bad at all (no worse than an IUI), but I was anxious and that makes me need to pee and of course your supposed to have a full bladder. I was in pain because I needed to pee and my thinking is that if I'm relaxed (thanks to valium) that having a full bladder won't seem so bad.

Laparotomy with partial oophorectomy 8/2009 to remove cysts/endo. Stopped BC 4/2010.
Multiple clomid rounds from 11/2010 to 6/2011. ~ All BFN
IUI w/clomid 7/2011. IUI w/clomid & injectables 11/2011 & 1/2012. ~ All BFN
Occasionally using acupuncture.
IVF #1:EPP 5/2012 ~ (4R, 3M, 2F w/ICSI). Both embies txfrd. ~ BFN
BCP to manage Endo from 10/2012 to 12/2012.
PAIF/SAIF always welcome!

I was never offered any meds for ET , nor did I feel like it was needed. I just try to talk to DH and not think about what they're doing down there :)

DH (31): Borderline low morph, but not considered a problem
"Baby dancing" with no protection or BCP since July 2009
IF testing started March 2011
Endocrinology related tests from October 2011-February 2012
March 2012--Clomid --No response-Straight to injects!
April & May 2012-- IUI#1 & #2 = BFN
July 2012- IVF#1 cancelled
September 2012-IVF#1.2--BFN
November 2012- IVF #2 --BFN
January 2013- IVF #3-- BFFN
February 2013--Found a new RE but first back to the Endocrinologist for more diagnostic testing
Absolutely no idea when we can cycle again...looking into DE as well if IVF#4 fails again
PAIF/SAIF encouraged...give me some hope!!

I definitely don't think that Valium was needed for the transfer for discomfort for me or to relax at all. I think the transfer is pretty easy, but my RE says she uses it so the uterus doesn't contract at all and gives us one to take 12 hours later, too. 

Me: 35, DH: 36, ttc: 3+ years, dx: unknown
10/11: after 2 years, saw a RE, FSH 5.4
11/11: BFP! (surprise after thyroid med & normal hsg),
12/11: missed m/c after 7 week u/s,
1/12: D&C,
6/12 IUI #1: clomid, 5 mature follicles, excellent sperm,= BFN,
7/12: IUI #2: clomid, 3 mature follicles, excellent sperm= BFN,
8/12: IUi #3: clomid, 5 follicles, = BFP!, C/P
10/12 IVF #1: FSH 5.4, estradiol AFC: 14, long Lupron 150/bravelle75,5R/5M/4F, all 4 made it to 5dt, 1 blast and 1 8 cell transferred. No frosties. BFN
IVF #2: AFC 21, MD lupron 12/25, 225bravelle/150men, 4R/4M/3F, 5dt of 1 blast BFN
IVF #3: natural start antagon, starting 3/30, ER 4/11, 12R,11M,10F

No meds were ever offered to me, nor did I feel the need to have them. The worst part is the full bladder. Yes I feel anxious and of course I feel the need to pee, but I've gone through 2 IUI's and 2 ET's so far and never had any issues. That said, that doesn't mean that it's not something other ladies have used and feel it is helpful. I have heard of doctors offering something, mine just never has.

TTC on and off since April 2007. IUI#1 (50mg Clomid + Trigger) 3/14. BFP 3/25 at 11dpo. No heartbeat at 8 weeks on 4/26, D&C 4/27. IUI #2 7/22 (50mg Clomid +Trigger)= CP. IUI #3 8/16 = BFN. IUI#4 9/14= BFN. IVF#1 started 10/31; cancelled 11/15. New clinic; 1st visit 12/26. IVF #1 (take 2) cancelled. IVF#1 (take 3)Feb. 2013! 2/9/13 ER = 25 eggs. 24 M/22F. 5dt (SET)2/14. 2/25= BFP! Beta 372!

If I were your dr I would write you a script too! Nobody likes a girl blacking out during transfer, lol.

I'm generally pretty together. They told me I was the fastest person they've ever seen wake up from anesthesia. I also walked out to my car - no wheelchair here Big Smile  So I think they're particularly comfortable not prescribing me anything.

THIS! exactly what happened to me at the last ET, except i didn't black out, i almost barfed on the RE lol. I am DEFINITELY getting something this time around. =)
