Bleeding at 12 weeks, dr. says we're okay... any similar stories

Hi all,

On Sunday, I went to the bathroom, when I looked down I saw blood in the toilet and on the paper. I was devestated thinking I was having a mc. Called my doctor, he told me not to worry too much... at 10 weeks we had seen a VERY strong heartbeat. Went to the dr. the next day and did an ultrasound. Baby was moving around like crazy, blood flow was awesome. The doc said, "I'm not worried AT ALL," then went on the explain that the cervix can cause bleeding similar to a nose bleed because there is so much blood flow to the area, sex can cause the bleeding or even no trauma can cause it.

Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? I only bled that one time and have had normal discharge since... I'm almost to the 2nd trimester and can't wait to be over that hurdle. I'd appreciate anyone sharing. Doc says 1 in 4 women experience bleeding during pregnancy and go on to have a healthy baby.

I had bright red bleeding after sex. That lasted about 12 hours or so and then
I had brown spotting for 5 days.  On the 3rd day of spotting the midwife had us come in for a heartbeat check.  She didn't really have a reason for the bleeding.

Yes. I had some red bleeding with clots around 12 weeks and everything has been fine. I was told I had a small subchorionic hemorrhage.  Not all blood means a mc.

I also had some bleeding with Rosemary off and on from 5 to 16 weeks. Most of that was just brown, but had some pink spotting at 16 weeks. Obviously she is fine!

I went to get an ultrasound at 9 weeks because I was spotting.  There were no rips in the uterus or any reason for there to be a problem.  The tech and Dr. both said that there is so much blood in the uterus that it just gets pushed out.  It can be completely normal to be spotting.

I can still remember the exact day: 11wks, 6 days. I went to the bathroom & there was bright red blood. Scariest moment of my life! I called the doctor ASAP & after discussing what may have caused it, we realized it was sex. I haven't had any issues since. Glad to hear everything is going to be ok for you!

I had bleeding at 8 weeks and 12 weeks - I'm at 22 weeks now and everything is "textbook perfect". Think good thoughts and try not to worry - bleeding is surprisingly common for a lot of women in pregnancy.

I had a fairly extensive bleed at 12 weeks due to a SCH.  Scared me to death, but the baby was totally fine.  I spotted reddish brown for another few days and then it took another 2.5 weeks for the brown spotting to stop entirely.  I also passed a very large clot.

Take it easy and rest when you can.  I think that it's better to err on the side of caution vs. doing too much.  GL and I hope it all works out.

At 13w6d I had a few large gushes of bright red blood. I thought the worst and went to the ER. Baby was fine, cervix was closed. After multiple appointments, doctors, and ultrasounds, I was diagnosed with a partial placental abruption and a large clot in my uterus. I stopped bleeding the first night but spotted brown for 6 whole weeks, sometimes a lot of brown. It's been incredibly nerve-wracking, but the baby is still fine. She's growing very well so can surmise that the placenta is fully functional. As of earlier this week, the doc cannot locate the abruption or the clot.(Great news!)

Blood is always scary. I'm glad your doc isn't worried, but if you still are, call him/her and schedule an appointment.

I had (heavy) bright red bleeding off and on from about 5 and a half weeks until 14 weeks. Baby is awesome and I finally felt him or her kick for the first time yesterday. If your doc isn't worried I definitely wouldn't be!

I had two episodes of bleeding at 12 weeks 5 days apart but I had no cramping and both times the bleeding came and went fairly quickly.  I called my doctor both times and they didn't sound concerned except if I had cramping (I didn't).  I just had my 16 week appointment and everything looks and baby has a nice strong heartbeat.  Smile

Another SCH over here (blood clot in placenta) - I had two periods of bleeding, one at about 11 weeks and another longer and scarier run at 13 weeks. Lots of bright red blood, I was a nervous wreck, but it was OK. They couldn't really see the clot at 11 weeks but it was clear on my NT scan at 13 weeks. The clot has gotten smaller each visit and I'm feeling baby movements now. Try to relax as much as you can. It happens to lots of ladies where everything turns out fine!
