Anyone else's LO crawl around the crib?

DD has been crawling for about a month, but she's been sleeping in the Magic Sleep Suit until a few nights ago (so was unable to crawl once I put her in her crib and zipped up the suit). She's been a decent sleeper, and usually falls asleep on her own after a few minutes of being in her crib.

A few nights ago I decided it was time to ditch the suit as she's almost grown out of it, and it's been super hot here (we live in Australia). Now all she wants to do is crawl around her crib as soon as I put her in there, even if she's super drowsy when I put her down. Actually, even if I put her down asleep (i.e. after nursing) she instantly wakes up and starts crawling around and sitting up.

If I pick her up and rock her she'll fall asleep within 10 minutes or so, but I'd hate to mess with the fact that she was falling asleep independently - plus I have an older DD who requires my attention at bedtime as well.

Last night I just decided to leave her and see what she did without intervening. She rolled, crawled, sat up, played with her paci etc. for almost 90 minutes before finally falling asleep!!

So my questions is - does this get better? Has this happened to anyone else? Should I keep rocking her to sleep or just leave her for as long as it takes, even if it's totally throwing off her sleeping schedule?

It's normal.  The novelty will wear off soon and she won't do it as much.  Unless she's crying, I see no reason to go in and do anything.  My kid is normally asleep within 10 minutes of being put down but he has random days where he plays in there for an hour or an hour and a half before he goes to sleep.  As long as he's quiet, we let him be.

Just keep doing what you're doing!

DD does this too.  We rocked her to sleep until she was about 5-6 months and a friend told me I was crazy.  We started slowly allowing her to fall asleep on her own.  Sometimes that means she plays for awhile in her crib first.  As long as she isn't crying we let her do her thing.  Now its actually really nice because she is used to being put down awake.  She is asleep for naps in 10 minutes or so.  At night it varies, but she now only cries if something is wrong.

This. She just learned to crawl and it is the most AWESOME thing in the whole world to her right now. Tired or not- she wants to practice this skill as much as possible! If she isn't crying- let her crawl her little heart out. Like this PP said, the novelty will wear off and things will go back to "normal". (We all know kids are far from normal! lol)

My LO jumps around like a jumping bean before going to sleep. She was even doing the downward dog position the other night. This and she starts moaning. If she's not crying consider yourself lucky!! I'd just let her be.

What's so wrong with letting her crawl around in her crib? If she's not crying, she's probably having a good time and not ready to sleep yet. My LO does this all the time but he seems to be enjoying himself and his time alone so I leave him be.
