Bugaboo Donkey?

I posted this on 2nd tri too.

Does anyone have one? I have an almost 3 year old and our little guy is due June 6th. We travel a lot and love to go to parks, zoo's, etc. I've done a ton of research on double strollers and this seems to be the one that keeps catching my eye. DD loves to walk, but when we are on vacations and out for long periods of time, she becomes tired and likes to ride and fall asleep.

Does anyone have one that highly recommends it? My only concern is that DD is 30lbs and it only goes up to 37.5lbs. Any thoughts?

RIght now we currently have a Stokke Xplory (which I LOVE) but doesn't become a double. I also have a BJCM which we could still use as our lightweight stroller form time to time.

I know this wasn't what you are asking for exactly...but I thought I should recommend that you look into the Orbit Double Helix if you hadn't already.

I'm not sure about the weight limit on it, but it converts really easily to a single. My cousin has the Donkey for her twins and I think the Orbit is easier to conver to a single. I also know that she sometimes had trouble fitting through doors when she had the car seats installed (she had twins though so in her case it was two car seats at the same time). It's not as bad anymore now that the twins are bigger and they just use the regular seat, but I know that there are still situations when she doesn't fit through a non-standard doorway.

Orbit also has a skateboard attachment so that your older one can ride along when she is tired (although I think Bugaboo has something similar).

For infants I think Orbit is far superior since it comes with the infant car seat which has good safety ratings and is sooo convenient for getting LO in and out of the car. I'm very petite and I had no problems getting DD in and out of my SUV since I could just swivel the seat towards me.

I love my donkey for twins but I wouldnt get it for the age difference you are describing.  I would honestly try to start out without a double (but get a single that either kid could use, and let the baby use it unless bigger kid wants to ride and then wear baby) and see how things go.

i have pretty small 1.5 year olds and they are already looking like they are filling it out.

I have a friend who has the Donkey for the same age gap that you have. She's happy with it but I agree with PP, I have a smaller age gap (close to 19 months) and I'm planning on going with a single and wearing baby when DD needs a stroller.
