Shower etiquette

Question ladies, not sure what the custom is here as I never had a baby shower since my mister came early.

My girlfriend is 7.5months pregnant and is having a shower next week. Do guests usually bring their infants or typically leave them at home? My munchkin is 10months   I'm thinking leave at home, but not sure, I was gonna ask her

If the invite was for you only, do not bring your kid.

I think it's ok to ask the host if others are bringing kids....in some circles, everyone brings kids and in others, nobody does.  If you can't reach her, I'd err on the side of not bringing LO.

At 10 months, I wouldn't bring your baby if he wasn't specifically mentioned on the invitation.  Infant, to me, is under 3 months old and still so young that they are primarily nursing.

If not specifically invited, leave the child at home.

Also, trying to wrangle a 10 month old at such a gathering sounds like my idea of hell.  My younger child is almost 9 months- all she wants to do is explore and get into everything!

I'd ask the hostess, because I know for my shower, I *wanted* kids there.  I don't get to see some of those kids very often and I liked having the kiddos present.  It wasn't super formal (a backyard) and so it wasn't inappropriate to have kids present.  I specifically told my hostess that I was okay with it and that she could spread the word to those of my guests with kids that they were welcome to bring them.  (A few were even specifically invited on the invitation--if they were old enough to read it.)

Most of my friends then brought their little ones, except two who didn't want to chase them around because having them there was more work for them and they wanted the afternoon off!

But other showers are more formal and kids would be out of place, such as at a restaurant or tea house.  So use some judgment on that too.

I would leave at home.  My sister is bringing my nieces to my shower next weekend.  But one is 7 (old enough to behave well and be helpful), and the other will be 2.5 weeks (young enough that she had no choice since she'll need to feed her).

This.  Also, if you want to really enjoy yourself then I'd leave the little guy home.  Plus, it is the flu season - keep him healthy!
