Reasons for temping the 2WW

What are your main reasons for temping in the 2WW?

I played around with the idea yesterday that now that I got my cross-hairs maybe I should step away from the temping.  Then I temped this morning - lol!

I just feel like at this point I've done all I can for this cycle - and why agonize over temps the next week and a half?

So why do you like temping the 2WW? (to see your pattern, to know when AF is coming, out of habit?)

I keep temping because your temps can give you an idea if AF is on its way. If you look through my charts you will see that the temps during the 2ww of my BFP chart looks quite a bit different than the charts that didn't result in a BFP. They usually go up and down during my 2ww, but when I got a BFP they didn't fluctuate much. Sure, it could have been a coincidence, but I watch my temps anyways.

Temping during 2ww can help to indicate whether or not there is a luteal phase defect.  Temping during the 2ww can also help to indicate whether or not to POAS.  Those are just two reasons I can think of.

I take a break from temping during the 2ww just to give myself a break from TTC on my brain everyday. It helps me relax on not focus on ttc so much.

Nope. And getting to 14 dpo indicates time to test.

There is honestly zero reason to temp in those two weeks besides doing it out of habit and wanting to drive yourself insane.

I keep temping for all those reasons you listed...but mainly to stay in the habit. Plus, it only takes 90 seconds total every morning.

Your BBT post ovulation can be used as one of the diagnostic criteria for a luteal phase defect.  Also, if temps stay high I might test before a missed period.  If I get a temp dip I might just wait for AF.

I guess I just feel that aside from the daily excitment of seeing your temp stay up (which can take a nose dive the next day out of nowhere) there isn't a point.  AF is going to show up or not - temping won't change that.

That said ... I still pull mine out every morning and take my temp.

This is pretty much the only reason. You may tell yourself you want to watch for a triphasic pattern or a drop to foretell AF, but it just drives you insane.

All of the above

This, although there have been a couple of cycles that I didn't temp after O was confirmed.  I know at this point we probably aren't going to get pregnant on our own, so I don't really care so much.

All of the above too.  But the deal breaker for me is that I've thought I've been in the TWW before only to have more temps show me that I am not.

If they have an LP under 12 days, it might be worth it, but for those with a normal LP, it's worthless.

Kind of like they hand out Clomid too easily and like to slap PCOS labels on people, OBs like to abuse the LPD diagnosis too. I know there are a few running around this board that claim to have that, but can't think of a one that has had an endo biopsy which is the standard test to check for an LPD.

One of the reasons I always temped in the 2WW was because I rarely actually ovulated, so if FF gave me CH's, I couldn't always trust it.  Sure enough, two or three times FF took away my CHs at around 9 or 10DPO because it became obvious that I did not in fact O.  Of course I would have figured it out eventually when my period didn't show and I got BFN's, but it kept me more sane to temp in the 2WW.

Even for those that aren't as irregular as I was, sometimes FF will move your CHs.  So if you don't temp and you think you are 10DPO when really you are only 7DPO because FF decided your O date was wrong, that could make for some really stressful days.
