Does Mason Ryan sound funny?

The other option is Mason William.

I can't put my finger on why exactly, but yeah - it sounds awkward.  Ryan Mason sounds better.

It's not terrible but it does sound a bit awkward...especially if said in certain regional accents. It's a bit choppy but like I said not terrible.

In this case I think Mason William might flow a bit better.

I thought it sounded kind of funny since they both have an N ending.

It's choppy and kind of singsongy. Totally worth it if Ryan has personal significance. Otherwise, I'd go with William.

It's the double N on the end of the name that makes the flow a little off, but I like it - just as long as your last name doesn't end with N (that would be a lot of distinct pronunciation).
