Book shower solution!!

So today was my day, and it was lovely. My hostesses were very creative, guests were incredibly generous (very few things from registry and that was TOTALLY OK with me), and all had fun.

 

With all the debate that goes on about asking guests to brings books, my hostesses did something that I thought was so great!!  They went and bought a pile of the small golden books, and had stickers made up with " for the library of Baby S.  With Love, __________. Then they encouraged guests to pick their favorite book and fill in their name. Library built, nobody told how to spend their money. Perfect.

Another cute game - they bought a bunch of small items at Target (butt paste, cotton swabs, wipes, thermometer, stroller toys, etc.) and put it in a basket for a "Price is right" game. Guests had to guess retail value (closest without going over) and winner got a prize. So fun, and  pretty fast.  (ETA: prize was stationary/candles, and I got all the useful baby stuff. Winners all around!)

Thanks for sharing how the Baby Price is Right game went. My mom wants to play this game at my shower and I thought it sounded really cute. Glad everything went well for you.

Thanks for sharing how the Baby Price is Right game went. My mom wants to play this game at my shower and I thought it sounded really cute. Glad everything went well for you.

 

I think it went over really well - would totally recommend it.  The hostess showed each item (and explained if needed) a la a Barker Beauty. Even better if the last person remembers to bid "ONE DOLLAR!!!" ;).

Love the book idea...I am always afraid in picking a book instead of a card that mommy will get doubles or sometimes multiples. What is worse you already wrote a message inside for baby so u can't even return it. This idea is so much better. 

Thanks for posting will offer this suggestion to all those planning.

I will definitely use the Golden Book idea.  Very creative and it also eliminates duplicates.

This is a great idea—thank you. My sister is insisting on people buying and bringing a book to the shower, too...I think this may be my solution. The price is right game is cute as well, plus it sounds like fun!
