2nd time mom registering

So I am not expecting a shower or anything like that but I was thinking of registering so I can receive some discounts or coupons they give out.
Does that seem tacky?
I need to get a new breastpump and those can be expensive so any discount would be awesome!!!

Not at all. I did it to keep track of what I need to buy. I'm trying to buy things slowly so it's less painful

I would set the registry to private.  Also, check with your health insurance to see if all or a portion of your breast pump might be covered by your plan.  It would probably be a much better discount than the 10% -15% registry completion coupon.

Yea if there is a privacy option I would take that route. I also wont be announcing that i registeted. My insurance wont cover a breastpump. I tried!

I did a registry for my 2nd and now my 3rd but they are just lists for myself on what I need. For my second, a few of my family members bought off of it but that isn't why I registered. I have a 10 year age difference between my 2nd and 3rd but I'm not expecting a shower.

I have private ones to keep track of what I still need, and to get the completion coupon.  But if people ask, I tell them I do not have one, since it is my 3rd child.  It keeps things organized to me!

Thanks!! This makes me feel better. I will probably register after I go through all my baby stuff so I can be organized and figure out what I need other than the breastpump.

Nope--you don't have to tell anyone about it.  I have one for the same reason.

meh it's only tacky if you annouce it.

if someone goes stalking you looking for a registry or asks you if you're registered, than I doN'T think it is tacky at all.

i also don't think it's neccesary to set it to private unless you want to.  if people go looking for registry info only to call you tacky, then that's their issue, not yours.

I have a private wish list set up on Amazon for Baby #2 solely to help me remember the random things I need to get before August. (I find Amazon to be cheaper than any of the baby stores, even with the completion coupon.) But yea, for your own purpose I think it's fine.

This ^. This is my third and I registered as more of a list for myself of what we need (and for my parents, who wanted options to choose from)), but I've had several people ask if I have a registry, so I left it public.

The bonus of doing this (at least with the online ones) is that not only can you get discounts, but you can see if there is the random sale on your items. I just bought our sterilizer last night because it dropped about $20 in price - love those little surprises :).

I don't get why it's tacky to have one with a few things on it. If you aren't telling people about it, and you aren't having a shower... who is going to stumble upon it? Probably the only person to stumble on it is someone who really wanted to get you something anyway.

I had a boss who was having his 3rd kid. I looked on BRU and sure enough, they had a registry with about 10 things on it. I was thankful because I didn't know him for the first 2 kids and really wanted to get them something.  I just don't see why it's tacky that they had a live registry with 10 items on it. Can someone explain the other point of view to me?

I didn't see that it was tacky but I wanted another point of view. I also forgot to mention I'm having a girl this time. My first was a boy. But all my major stuff is gender neutral.

This exactly

I have a registry, not setting it to private cause my family asked me to register.  They all live across the country and all want to get me things.  It makes it a lot easier to simply have it shipped to me.

PLUS its such a nice list to have!

I don't think registering the 2nd time around is a horrible thing.  I don't really support 2nd showers unless there's been like 10 years between kids or something, but if you are just looking to give people ideas if they want to buy you something or to take advantage of the coupons, what they heck?  Nothing wrong with that!

I don't think it's tacky, especially if you're not announcing it to people. Who's going to find a registry if you don't tell them where to look for it?

Personally, I have a private Pinterest board for it since most of the things I still need to get are from a wide range of places. However, I could see doing a proper registry so if the grandparents ask if there's something they can get the baby, you have a place to direct them. We have a WishPot.com wish list that we keep updated for DS1 because our parents periodically ask if there's a new toy or something that he's shown interest in.

If you're not planning on handing out the information to people I don't see why it's an issue at all. If someone is actively searching to see if you have a registry and then comes upon it they wouldn't think you're tacky since they are looking to begin with. Take advantage of the completion coupons, I should too! Plus they usually give you the neat bag full of random coupons which is nice.

Have you checked recently? The affordable care act (aka obamacare) is supposed to make insurance companies help with the cost of these items.  I have the federal version of BCBS and they cover the purchase of one 100% as long as it is through their program. Also, if they wont purchase one, they may cover the rental cost of a hospital grade one?

Im pretty sure you can make them private therefore no one would know you made one. I did one to get a $20 gift card for free I have since deleted it but I may register again if I get another chance to get a coupon.

This.  This is #3 for me.  There are things I have to get.  Like a new crib, new car seats.  I want those coupons.  Am I going to go around telling people I registered?  Not a chance.  If they find it, not my problem.  If they have an issue with it, definitely not my problem.
