To Veteran Moms: Did kicks in the womb correlate to the times the baby wakes outside the womb?

I know every baby is different, but I'm curious to know if your baby's kicks in the womb correlated to the times the baby wakes outside the womb?

Not really. Baby actually slept for long periods overnight in the womb, and was up every hour for the first couple weeks :! No, but I didnt find a correlation.

For DS1 no it did not, DD has been on roughly the same schedule from the time I felt regular movement, to today at 16 months

Nope not at all. He slept a lot and would reposition when I got in bed an that was it. Outside OMG my little man got up every 2 hours to eat for 18 months straight!!! Other than that he would sleep in between and was such a good baby and at 28months he is still a good boy.

Not here -- DS was a very active baby inside my belly, but slept extremely well/often as a newborn.

Wut? No.  I've heard some anecdotal stories of babies who are more active at night vs morning being the same, but otherwise, no.

Nope - I noticed my babies were most often asleep when I was moving (my doctor said I was technically rocking them to sleep) and active when I was sitting.

When we came home from the hospital, I expected many sleepless nights, since they were very active at night, but I had wonderful babies who figured out the night-time routine within a day or two and were sleeping through the night a few weeks after that.

Not that I remember.

I don't remember her once waking me up at night by kicking... and night times are still a giant PITA here- and pretty much have been since she was born.

Yes, at least the first am wake up time. I relaied that after LO 1 was born - he would wake me up kicking and moving at 3 am every.day.  Wouldn't you know, that stinker got up at 3 am for almost the first year of his life.  So I paid attention with LO2 - she was active at night and kicked much later in the mornings, normally 830 or 9ish.  For the first year of her life she was more of a night owl and liked to sleep in.

DS's did.  He was up every night from midnight to 5am kicking up a storm.  At 16 months, he's still up about 5 times a night!

This baby is much more quiet at night so here's hoping for a sleeper!

FTM, but from what I've read, it has no correlation.

The funny thing is that I was just thinking last week that it'd be nice if it did correlate! Then we'd be somewhat prepared for what our LO's sleep would be like.

Unfortunately it'll never be that easy lol

Nope. I thought, based on the midnight crazy in my belly, that I would have a baby with nights flipped. But he slept fantastically during the day, and woke up every few hours at night.  It all changes when they're outside.

No.

With DD I had an anterior placenta so I really have no idea with her.  With DS he kicked at night a TON and yet slept through the night just as easily as DD did within the first few weeks.

Not that I can recall but honestly once you bring you LO home it's such a crazy exciting time, comparing pregnancy movements to awake/sleep cycles is the last thing on your mind... or at least it was for me!

Not at all for me.  Inside the womb, baby sleep patterns can be as little as 20 mins at a time.  This is how it was for DD.  Thankfully she slept a lot more than 20 mins outside the womb.  She actually loves her sleep now, getting up to 13 hours a night.

No. My daughter was pretty active in utero but as a newborn/infant, she was a great sleeper. She began sleeping 8+ hours beginning at 2 weeks old. Though now, she's a craptastic napper but she still sleeps pretty decent at night!

Nope.  DS slept all day and kicked all night when I was pregnant.  I assumed it was because I work overnights and sleep during the day.  Now he can't stay up past 6:30-7pm.
