Best way to consolidate naps?

My LO seems to be trying to drop his morning nap and evening cat nap. His morning nap used to be 45min-hour, now he only sleeps 10-25 minutes. It seems like if I cut it out completely he would be a complete disaster though. The evening nap used to be 10-30 minutes, and now he'll nurse but sometimes not want to sleep at all. Should I just keep doing our normal nursing/nap schedule until he doesn't go to sleep anymore? Or just try to keep him up altogether? What has worked for you, and do you have any advice/suggestions?

How old is your lo? And when do they go to sleep for the night and are they fussy? If so try to consolidate and cut out the evening nap. I ask because
Mine is 10 Mos and around 9 I switched up her nap sked. She goes to bed at 830. She was on a 3 nap routine, so wakes up 7amish napped from 930 1015ish. Then 1230 to 1 then 4 to 430.
I started putting her to sleep at 10 am instead and she started sleeping from about 10 to 11 even 1130. Then 3 to 4/430.
Try and find a good middle time where he can sleep longer and not be so tired later on and maybe even bed a bit earlier? I think it's a trial and error kinda thing

How long has the morning nap been that short? Might just be a phase and he's not napping well but that could change. I couldn't imagine getting rid of the morning nap, my son would be a mess! He takes 2 solid naps a day and sleeps from 7:30pm - 7:00am so I figure when he's ready to change that, he will!

Lo started dropping naps, so I switched his awake times to the 2 3 4 method. After waking for the day, up for 2 hrs then 1st nap, then up for 3 hrs, then nap. Up for 4 hrs then bed. Seems to be working for the last 3 weeks. Hope this helps.

I would try this, you might not make it 4 hours in the afternoon, ours was more of a 2-3-3. I think it's the evening nap that is the issue. Eliminate that first, and work on the morning nap, make sure you are doing it at the right time. It would be highly  unlikely that a 9 month old was ready for 1 nap. Most kids go to 1 nap around 15 months.

This is really helpful. I did think it was odd that he seemed to be dropping both the morning and evening at the same time. He usually goes to bed at 7:30 and is up around 7ish for the day. His morning nap has always been an hour to an hour and a half after he wakes...he can't be up for long before he starts falling apart. Plus, he doesn't nurse first thing in the morning anymore...the first time he wants to nurse is before his morning nap, so I think he gets so fussy in the morning because he is hungry also. I'm going to try offering to let him nurse upon waking every morning and try pushing the morning nap later. And try to drop the evening nap before anything else. One problem we've been struggling with is that his naps are really short during teething. If I did the 2-3-4 method, his bedtime would be super early since his actual nap times have been so short. These days I praise Jesus if I can get an hour out of him! LOL
