Lurking for Sucess Stories

Hi, My name is Gina. I would have been joining this board in a couple of weeks, but I lost my baby to a missed miscarriage when the technician didn't find a heartbeat at my appointment on friday. I am recovering from this loss slowly, but I'm scared for my next pregnancy. Me and DH are going to try again once my body is healed and ready, but this was our very first pregnancy so I don't know what to expect now.

My question is, is there anyone here who is in their second trimester, but who had a missed miscarriage in a previous or first pregnancy? We lost our baby at 9 1/2 weeks so I was just looking for women like me who had a similar experience, but who are now in their 2nd trimester. Thanks!!

So sorry for your loss....I lost my first at 9 1/2 weeks, the missed m/c was discovered at 11 weeks. That was in June, and I got pregnant again during my August cycle.

Now I am at 23 weeks. I'm still scared, but being able to feel his movement helps. We have a long way to go, but I feel thankful and lucky every single day. Best of luck to you moving forward!

I'm so sorry for your loss. This is a difficult time but you will get through it.((((HUGS))))

I also had a missed miscarriage with my first pregnancy. I found out at my first ultrasound at around 7 weeks that the baby had stopped developing the week before. I was around 10 weeks by the time I finally miscarried, with the help of misoprostol. This was in March and I got pregnant again in August, so about 5 cycles later. It was incredibly difficult and stressful to not get pregnant for "so long," even though I know it takes some women longer.

Do you know about the TTC After a Loss board? The women on there are wonderful and it was an extremely helpful and supportive place for me.

I had a missed miscarriage that we discovered the day before my NT scan.  They estimated that the baby's heart stopped sometime at week 10.  I was devastated.  It was my first pregnancy, and it took 2+ years and some IF treatments to get there.  That was this past May.

I've been extremely nervous this time around, but I'm at 24+ weeks now and well past my previous loss point and LO is healthy.  I made DH come to my first several appointments with me because I didn't feel I could handle bad news on my own.  It's normal to be scared- I don't think I have stopped being scared yet, but I've had to put it out of my mind.  I try not to dwell on it and focus on the now.

I have no idea when I actually "Lost" the baby, (I had to go to a clinic and didn't have an appointment til I was like, 15w, and I started miscarrying a week before my appointment). The doctor could not find any sign of a baby, so they figured that it just stopped growing early on, and my body just hadn't expelled it. I had to have a D&C.

Two months later I got pregnant again and had an uncomplicated pregnancy that resulted in DD.

Missed miscarriages are fairly common and many women go on to have normal, healthy pregnancies afterward.

So sorry for your loss.  I hope you take care of yourself in the coming weeks and months.  I had a missed miscarriage with my last pregnancy at 10 weeks.  It took us over a year to conceive again and we had complications with the beginning of this pregnancy.  I even had a doctor tell me that I had either miscarried or had an ectopic pregnancy.  However - that doctor was wrong (and I switched to a more competent one) and this baby is doing just fine!  Sending you wishes for emotional healing and an easy, healthy second pregnancy.

I  am so sorry for your loss!

I had DS, had a chemical pregnancy (so a super early loss - like 4 weeks) in July and then got pg again the following month (August) with this one.

My sister had a 10ish week loss with her first and then had 3 successful pregnancies after.
