Yesterday's Followup

Yesterday was my follow up with the RE. I really like him. We went over the results from my 3 day labs. Everything apparently looks good. The OAR came back at a 15, which is averagegood for my age group 24. He then went on to say it is a positive result in the event we have to move onto IVF.

I think he is being very cautious, trying to not say we have a high chance of having to resort to that but since he barely mentioned trying clomid and instead talked more about IVF shows that he's down playing his concern by not directly saying "Hey, you guys are probably screwed but here's hoping!"

Background: I have a left sided hydrosalpinx. I'm having surgery on next month to close and check the functionality of the other tube. I've done my research, lots, so I know chances are high that the other tube is probably ruined even if not blocked. DH is excited about the good news we got at the RE but is he overlooking what's written between the lines or am I looking for bad news?

Welcome!! I know where you're at - I have a unicornuate uterus (just the left side) I also had a hydrosalpinx left tube and my right tube was not attached to the functioning side of my uterus and was mangled so they removed both during my laparoscopy. My doctor told me she is not sure IVF will work the first time around, but is confident that it will work - I am stimming right now for our first cycle - hoping for Feb 1 ET.

Good luck to you and if you have any questions, just ask!

I think that the doctors are afraid that they will scare us if they start out with ivf.  Ivf is scarey at first but once you are actually doing it, it is not as scarey as you think it will be.  And you get pictures of the embryos, which is pretty cool.  Good luck!
