Gift for someone with no bridal registry? NBSR

This is more bridal shower than Baby Shower, but I trust the opinions of many on this board.

My Husband's Aunt is having a bridal shower 4 days before my due date.  I wasn't formally invited, b/c during the planning, MIL let the planners know that I wouldn't be able to make it. However, this aunt came to my small, intimate baby shower this weekend with her daughter and gave me a very generous gift. I would like to send something for her with my MIL to the shower.

Now heres my dilemma - I have NO IDEA what to get her. She's an older bride, second marriage, both bride and groom have high school/college age kids.  They already have a household set up, and did not register anywhere.

Any ideas?

I didn't register for my second wedding either. If anyone asked I had my mother tell them gift cards to either restaurants or basic stores like Target or Walmart. We used the restaurant gift cards like crazy on our honeymoon and they were wonderful to have!!

For the shower, I would maybe get a really nice picture frame (silver) or some nice wine glasses and be sure to include a gift receipt and purchase from a store with a good return policy.

For the wedding, I would probably give cash or a gift card.

How about a set of engraved champagne flutes?  My cousins got us a set for our engagement party and we used them at the reception and every New Year's Eve since the wedding.  You could get them a set with a nice bottle of champagne.

My SIL and BIL gave H and I an engraved photo album with our names and dates.  We used SIL as our photographer and we used the album for all of our wedding pictures.

PPs suggestion of gift cards are a good idea. If you're familiar with where she lives, maybe you can splurge on a gift card to an upscale restaurant.

I went to a wedding for an older couple (both were already grandparents).  We got them a gift card to a nice restaurant.

What about a membership to a museum, botanical garden, or similar?

I think it can be done well, and I would have loved it, but taking all of the crappy parts of school away from a kid isn't good for them in the long run.

There are lessons like "Not everyone likes you" and "Some people are douche bags" that you don't learn without socializing in a large group of poorly supervised children.

I would probably get a really nice piece of serveware or platter from Wilton Armatelle. I love that stuff- and I'd choose a subdued piece or a summery piece. I saw a cute crab platter the other day at BB&B I think.

Gift cards to restaurants, Home Depo, etc., Sears, Target, etc.  Most likely they both have two pretty much established households that they are combining so they probably don't need more "stuff".
