Car seat. STM which side

Just debating which side to have 2 yr old on vs baby??? If baby is on passenger side I can put baby in and have LO climb through, I can then walk around stap lo in and get in quickly but coming out of our house the driver side is closer and it would be easier to have baby behind me.... just thinking about those days its pouring rain and im trying to do things quick. Any thoughts on which side your putting kiddos?

DD is behind the driver (still RFing at almost 3) and we'll most likely put the baby on the passenger side.  I don't think we'll be able to get LO in the middle.

We will be having baby behind the passenger seat so I can easily see him if I need to look back there real quick or fetch something at a stop light. DD will be behind me which isn't ideal since she loves to see me when I drive but I think she will get used to it.

Not sure yet, and we'll see how things fit. I think we're going to try to put baby behind the driver's seat. Reason being, I'd like to keep DS RFing and I'm not sure if his seat will fit RFing behind DH (but by the same token, an infant seat may not fit properly, in which case we'd have to move DS to the driver's side and FF him). Also, although we rarely have to do any street parking, I was thinking it would be easier to get the baby, then go get DS out, vs. having to walk into the street with a baby carrier, or trust DS to just stand on the sidewalk while I get the baby out. If the infant seat can fit in the middle, we'll do that, so there's a usable seat back there. To answer your question - no idea. :P

DD is already behind me so I could make use of the 60/40 split in my back seat/trunk and I'll put the baby on the passenger side. I also want the infant seat not behind me because with the rear facing it would hit the back of my seat so I'd have to move my seat forward to make it fit and don't want to change! Plus like pp said, I think it'll be easier to reach back to give baby a paci or whatever if she's on the passenger side.

Well, DH can't drive with a rfing seat behind him. So in his car, DD1 will be in her booster behind him. DD3 will be in the infant seat in the middle, and DD2 will be rfing behind the passenger. We still need to test this out and make sure it fits. Right now we have DD1 behind the driver and DD2 behind the passenger.

In our minivan we have bucket seats in the middle and a full bench in the back. I'm the primary driver if it's just me and the kids, but DH drives it if we go somewhere as a family. Ideally, we'll put the two rfing seats in the middle with DD1 in the back. I'm not sure we'll be able to get a rfing seat behind DH, so we might end up with DD2 rfing behind the passenger, DD3 rfing in the middle back row, and DD1 in the booster next to her.

My DS kicks the seat in front of him, so he sits on the passenger side so that I can move the seat out of his reach when no other adults are in the car with me. I'll put baby on the driver side. The middle seat in my SUV is too small for a car seat.

I will have two rear facing convertibles since we don't do bucket seats and I'm thinking that I should have enough room to rear face LO in the middle and DD on one of the sides (haven't decided which yet.

If DS ends up being a pretty good helper, I'm thinking he'll stay in his current spot (behind the driver in my car and behind the passenger in DH's so he has more room when he's driving) and the baby would go in the middle.  He's pretty tall so he will probably be able to reach over to give the baby something if she needs it.  We'll just have to wait and see if he's actually willing to help out ;)

We just got a minivan.  I will move DS to the driver's side and baby will go in passenger side.  That way, I can open passenger door, let DS climb in, snap in bucket seat, then go around to driver's side to buckle DS in.  So, basically exactly what you said in your original post LOL.  Right now (winter) I climb in with DS in order to get jacket off/on, etc., but I won't be able to do that for awhile once baby is here because DS is still rear facing (only 32 lbs).   I figure it will be okay through summer and fall, and by next winter, he will probably be forward facing and there will be room for me to climb into the car as needed again.

I was actually thinking about this a few days ago. Right now DD is forward facing in her convertible behind the passenger seat in both my car and DH's truck. DH plans on putting the baby behind his seat and keeping DD where she is. I will probably do the same as long as I can fit. I ideally would like to put the baby in the center but I am not sure if that will work in my car. It may in DH's truck b/c it's more spacious but we will see. Right now that's where the dog sits so we haven't put the bases for the infant seat in there yet to try it out.

DD was in the center seat for years until she switched to a Turbo booster this summer, when we moved her to the passenger side.  I first tried to install the base in the center, but it ended up being too difficult for DD or myself to reach the seat belt buckle whether she was on the passenger side or driver's side, so the base is now behind the driver's seat, booster on passenger side...I prefer DD getting out on the curb side if we're parked on the street.

DS is getting moved behind the driver and new baby will go behind the passenger seat so I can easily reach back if needed. DS is also 4.5 so he can help as well since we have a smaller SUV.

The only issue will be preschool drop off and pickup - his teacher gets him in and out of the car and she will have to walk around but oh well. I figure if the first way doesn't work, it's not permanent and we can switch it.

We have captains chairs in the middle row so it's both kids will be on the side... DD is FF in a high-back booster behind the driver side and LO will be behind the passenger. The 'family' car is the car I drive since I am the primary pickup/drop-off at DD's school, but DH is 6'5" so infant seat won't fit behind the driver seat when DH drives, he will just be the one to drive when we're all together.

I figure that when I am putting them in the car (by myself) I will let DD climb in either side and get situated in her seat while I'm putting LO in, and then walk around and buckle her in before I get in. When we're getting out I can unbuckle DD from the front seat and she can be climbing down while I get around to the passenger side to get LO out, and then she can jump out from that side. She can't buckle herself in, I'm not sure if she will be able to for a while with the amount of strength it takes to pull on the seat belt, and then having to lean over the seat to find the buckle; I'm fine with that though so I'm not worried about her unbuckling herself. I have a nephew who is a month older than DD and he will unbuckle himself randomly while they are driving...

DD is FF on the passenger side, baby will go behind me. In DH's truck we will have to move DD's seat to the drivers side, he can't have a car seat RF behind him, he's too tall.

We currently have a mini-van and DS is behind driver side and DD is behind the passenger. The convenience of this I've found is that I hit the auto open button for both doors as we walk out to the car- DS will climb in the car and get in his seat (haha or at least climb in the car, it sometimes takes some wrangling to get him in his seat). While he climbs in on his side I put DD in on the passenger side and buckle him on my way back around to get in the drivers seat. DS is rear facing still and will switch to FF when he turns 3 in March.

When the new baby comes I plan on taking out the seat behind the drivers seat and putting DS FF in 3rd row, DD in the middle row, middle seat rear facing in a convertible seat and the new baby in the middle row behind the passenger seat so I don't have to carry/move the heavy infant seat as far.

We have DD RFing behind the drivers seat right now so we will probably keep her there and put LO2 behind the passenger seat.
