TMI: Kind of embarrassed....

I have had a yeast infection every month to month and a half of this pregnancy, and it has been hell. I am allergic to Monistat, so anytime I get a yeast infection, I have to call my GYN, go into the office, confirm that it's yeast and then get a prescription for fluconazole. The fluconazole is great and it's just one dose that I take right after I get it, but it's the second day that is the worst. It feels like all the leftover yeast up in there is coming right out. (Sorry, I told you TMI) Before the second day is over though, everything is cleared up.

I have an OB appointment today and they are going to do my first internal since I am almost 38 weeks. I'm just thinking how the OB is going to be all, "WHAT THE FACK!?"

I am over these recurring yeast infections. :-\

Ugh, I am sending you my sympathies. I had bad recurrent yeast infections about 10 years ago (thank you birth control pills) and I remember clearly how frustrating that was. Thank the lord for fluconazole.

Yep. They were concerned that it was due to GD, because apparently GD can increase the likeliness of developing recurrent yeast infections. But, my 1 hour GD test was great, and everything else is perfect. It's those pesky hormones.... Bleh.

Well you can take consolation in the fact that I * guarantee* your OB's seen worse lol.  You might not feel like it, but they have.  I would actually probably warn her though, but that's just me because I'm sure I would feel self conscious also.

On a good note though if you're getting them every month to month and a half maybe that means this is the last one?  *fingers crossed!*

I'm kind of surprised they make you go in every time :(  You'd think they'd trust you to know what a YI is by now.  Sorry, though.  I had one recently and it's miserable.

You can always decline the internal.

I have been suffering from a lady issue as well that *should* resolve after birth.  You are not alone.  It sucks.

Expecting our second baby on February 7, 2013. Trusting Him whatever comes our way.

We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011 at 20 weeks. She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.

My DH cringes when he hears "yeast infection" so it became referred to as making bread or making beer LOL   Pretty much makes you never look at bread the same way again BWAHAHAHA

I know, right? I can't help but think it's because the office visit means that the insurance pays out. There was only one time that they put two orders of the prescription in at a time, because of the predictability of it, it was around the holidays and she didn't want me to get stuck not having anything.

A friend of mine has had several yeast infections, and the best remedy she's found for her is garlic. I believe you just pop a whole piece/section up there and it works pretty quickly and effectively (Google has a lot of references). It's great if the prescriptions are working for you, but you might want to check out the garlic method so you get some kind of immediate relief if you can't make it to the doctor right away!

I've heard of regular organic, unflavored yogurt on a tampon, but not the garlic! Noted. Thanks for the tip!

PROBIOTICS! After you take you dose of medicine either find a probiotic or eat a TON of yogurt.  This will made the good bacteria fight off the bad.  They are also great for your digestive system.  As always, check with you Dr to see if it's ok.

I agree with PP to try probiotics. They can really help. I take Metagenics Ultra Flora.

I feel so bad for you I have had the same issue with a reoccurring YI, but after the 3rd one my OB just wrote me a script for the Fluconazole with some refills. Maybe you should ask about that.  mean they should trust you to know whats up with your lady parts when it comes to the dreaded YI. Good Luck!
