Need to pick your brain

So I go back to work next week.  My LO has Down's syndrome with a heart defect that will require surgery.  She was also recently diagnosed with acid reflux so trying to gain weight is a problem.  As much as I would like to be a SAHM, bills won't allow it.  My MIL will be watching her dring the day.  Problem is, if she does start gaining weight, her surgery will be moved up but it's a waiting game.

Heres my dillemia.  I work In a small private school, I'm a teacher and had intended to return to my class after maternity leave.  My boss gave me an option.  Stay in the classroom or work in the front office.  I want to do what's best for my students.  I want don't them to have a different sub every time DD has a dr. appointment or if she gets sick again and has to go to the hospital.  Then again, the hours in the office are longer, I have no idea what I would be doing, and the pay is lower.  However, if I worked in the office, my students would have a stable teacher, it's not such a big deal if we end up in the PICU for a few days, and if a teacher called in sick I could take the class.  Ugh!!,  I don't know what to do.

I think you should focus on what's right for your family. Your students will be fine and will still be learning with a sub but only you know what's in your best interest.

I agree with PP. Your family needs to come first. If you need the better pay and shorter hours, do the teaching position. The kids will get a sub who is more than capable. However, will you being gone stress you out too much if you do the teaching job? If so, that needs to be taken into consideration.

That's what I'm most worried about.  The stress.  Dealing with parents and students is hard enough.
