Terrified.....(NOT bleeding/spotting/cramping/loss of symptom question!)

So I had my first OB appointment today, and the doc went to do a pap and couldn't because I have an "abnormal" growth on my cervix, which is completely obstructing the opening.  She said it's no risk to the baby, but she doesn't know what it is, or how big it is, and that I will almost definitely have to have a c-section.  I got to see the hb again when she did an u/s (happy surprise) to try to figure the growth out, so I know baby is OK, but I am absolutely terrified at the mystery growth.  Has anyone else had this or have any insight?

Did she not tell you what it is? Or did they schedule another apt to find out? That's weird if they didn't.

But...if they said not to worry, try not to.. easier said then done, i know.

They won't do any testing on it until after I have the baby.  She literally said "no one will touch it".  She said they will hopefully get a better look at size, growth pattern, etc with the NT scan because the technology is better than the u/s machine she used.

So good to hear your LO is healthy! I am sorry to hear about your growth. I can see why you would be concerned. "/

Have you been getting regular (yearly) Pap smears?  You should be.

I think you need to discuss with your doctor further to see what they think it is and what the treatment plan is.  If this popped up between your last yearly Pap and now, that is terribly fast and worrying (for your health.  I would most definitely believe the doctor when they say the baby is fine).

Your doctor will have far more answers than this message board.

Good luck.

Wow, I would be scared too.  From what I've heard, cervical cancers are VERY slow growing so I wouldn't immediately go to the "C" word if this is something new that wasn't seen at your last exam.  Our reproductive systems are so complicated & I hear about crazy things all the time.  Odds are you are just fine and they don't want to irritate your cervix during pregnancy that may cause pre-term labor.  I'm sorry this is something you need to worry about.  Hopefully you get more answers in a few weeks.  T&Ps.

Could it be a polyp?  I had several that grew within the first few months of my pregnancy. If its high up and she's not familiar with them then it might be hard to determine what it is. Pregnancy hormones can cause polyps. In any case no information would not be okay with me. Press the issue and find out or get a second opinion. Tere is no point in worrying about it for so long.

This is really reassuring.  She kept saying pollyp, but then said she doesn't know what it is?  I have no idea.  To be honest, she seemed a bit underqualified to begin with.  I have had 4 pelvic exams in the last 4 weeks, and this is the only one that has ever been painful.  I was literally in tears the entire time because it hurt so bad, and have been cramping all day as a result.  That being said, I am not seeing her again for a multitude of reasons and have an appointment with a different doctor on Feb 11.
