Mid-cycle spotting

I just have a question I wanted to pose to you ladies since I've not been able to find much helpful info on the internet and my midwife didn't really have any good ideas. Two cycles ago I had brown spotting that lasted for three days sorta mid-cycle (CD15, 16, 17 of a 26-day cycle). Then I had four days of brown to red spotting that same cycle before AF came on full force (I normally have one-two days spotting before AF). The next cycle I had no spotting except for one day before AF came. This cycle is the first cycle I've used OPKs, got a positive late Sunday night and positives all through Monday, with negatives all Tuesday. I had pain on my left side (what I think was ovulation pain Monday night, which I've also had in the past around when ovulation would have been feasible), so I think I O'd Monday night. Late last night I had a tiny bit of brown spotting and today I'm having more. I was just wondering what you guys think this might be. At first I thought ovulation spotting but everything I've read indicates that ovulation spotting occurs while you're ovulating (and since my first OPK was at 11:30 pm Sunday night, it seems like it's too late now for me to be ovulating).

The first time this spotting happened, my widwife said the mid-cycle spotting was a little strange but really didn't say anything else. She also some said women spot early in pregnancy, but there is no way the mid-cycle spotting last time or the spotting this time would be implantation (I'm not sure if she was referring to the four days of spotting before AF?). Just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or have ideas of what could be going on. Thanks!!

DH: Several mild abnormalities on SA. DH started Clomid 5/2013
Me: Thyroid and Prolactin good. U/S with more b/w in 6/2013.
Referral to RE in January to get more testing.

Ovulation can happen 36 hours after your positive OPK, so it would be completely normal to have O spotting now. Your midwife is wrong. Random mid cycle spotting happens to a lot of women and isn't strange.

However, it could be O spotting, it could be random spotting, it could be completely unrelated to your uterus and be the result of rough sex. We don't know and honestly can't tell you.

I always have tons of spotting between O and AF, my four cycles TTC I had it almost straight through from a few days past O until my period started, and same for my last cycle where I actually got my BFP. I spotted mid-cycle even while on BCP, so spotting seems to be just normal for me and it's very normal for lots of others too.

All throughout my cycles (on BCP and off) I've had breakthrough bleeding. Early in my cycle, the brown spotting was left over from previous AF or like other ladies mentioned from rough sex (irritating the cervix). If it's light brown/pink it could be from O or implantation and if the spotting is bright red from a cyst that burst.    
*** TTC since 10/2010 (no planned bc since 2007) Me (31) Sept 2012 - DX Luteal Phase Defect. HSG 8/2012: both tubes are open, cervix and lining look good; hypothyroidism; DH (35) SA Normal Clomid 50mg, trigger
10/2012 BFFN 1st cycle on clomid 50mg w/trigger shot, progesterone level 19.7, cd28 - hcg level 0.
***12/2012 Cycle #25 TTA break until March 2013***

I just came here to post a similar question!

 For the second month in a row I have had brown/red tinged cervical mucus and spotting around cycle days 11 and 12. This is my third cycle since weaning and I have never had this happen before.

 I'm interested to see what others say about this.
