I want candy :'(

I want candy so bad that I feel like crying. Problem is I had some yesterday, and the day before and am really really trying to eat as healthy as possible.I never even had a sweet tooth until I got pregnant.

I've tried raspberries, green apples, and lemon trying to get rid of my craving but nothing works.

Any ideas of something sour and sweet that wont make me diabetic?

Have you tried dribbling chocolate on popcorn?

Dip strawberries in chocolate?

Drink a milkshake?

Do you have gd, or have you had it in the past? Because eating a little bit of sweets won't make you diabetic. You just have to remember to eat in moderation and not go crazy.

No, that sounds incredible. I'm making popcorn and chocolate now.

I don't have it but my family has a very strong history of diabetes and I was a bit overweight when I got pregnant so I'm trying really hard to monitor what I eat now to make sure I keep the risk as low as I can.

Eating candy won't make you diabetic.  Just get a snack size pack of sour patch kids and be done with it.

FWIW if you're trying to avoid GD, fruit spikes your sugar too.  If you ate raspberries and an apple, you could have a little bag of candy instead with pretty much the same impact.  My GD diet minimized anything with carbs, including fruit.  Stick to lean proteins and lots and lots of veggies and eat small portions every few hours.  If you really want something, eat it.  Just don't do it all the time and don't gorge.

But for pete's sake, have the candy.  You won't be happy until you do :)

This. I've had a sugar craving the last few days too.

Don't deprive yourself! Do as the other ladies said & eat some candy! I want a lot of sweets during this pregnancy- I'll have a small bowl of Bryer's ice cream (all natural). Have you tried hot cocoa with a candy cane? What about hard candies?

I asked my doctor about my sweets craving and what I can do to not give in as much...he said keep some hard candy around. While that's a total bs answer to my irrational craving...my rational brain says "get sweet caramel hard candies or hard chocolates to suck on"...if you crave sour sweets, get those hard candies. I think he is right to some degree. It will help! But don't forget to give in SOMETIMES! Because its really ok!!!!!

Some ideas from one sweet tooth to another:

Any fruit with whip cream

Any fruit with honey or agave syrup

Make a fruit salad with lime/lemon and honey or agave

Make frozen pops with fruit juice and a pop of lime/lemon

Make gelatin and eat with whip cream

Get creative with that sweet tooth!! :)

I have no advice because I face the same issue every day. I can't stop eating those sweet & sour filled Twizzlers. They're way too tart & smell like play-doh, but I can't get enough. I seriously will sit & eat them until the bag is gone.

DH shares them with me. Not because he likes them, but he figures the more he eats, the more he keeps me from eating. I'm onto his games.

I've never really had much of a sweet tooth but the other day a Skittles commercial came on and that was it I was on a quest for Skittles. They were delicious!

I would say you could make your own popsicles with whatever juice you prefer. I do this in the summer time with pink lemonade. It's sweet and sour and 100% delicious!

I actually think you're doing a great thing OP trying to control your new sugar addiction. I'm losing the good fight too. Let's see, sour and sweet -- well you tried green apples and that was a bust. Could you microwave some frozen strawberries and add some whipped cream?

Or do you have the self-control to eat just a fun size candy bar or pack? Not everyone does, so I know it's easier said than done to just "eat a small piece and be done with it" -- for my husband "candy" means a King Size bar, not a fun size bar.

I really think you should have the candy! Just don't overdo it. unless you have self-control issues, limit your intake. I have something sweet every single day. Nothing big, just something small. Today I had a piece of caramel in the morning and a piece of chocolate at night and trust me, it won't make you diabetic! What would make you diabetic is if you relied heavily on sugar. And I mean heavy...if you are eating well as much as it sounds, you are allowed to treat yourself. Besides, the more you deprive yourself the more you will crave it. Also, perhaps you NEED sugar, you know the body needs certain levels of sugar to function...to make the baby and to just survive. It's a fact. Why do you think they give OJ or candy to diabetics who are going into shock?  Eat some, you will be just fine :)

How about some fruity sorbet? That's tangy and sweet! I've had crazy urges for frozen yogurt lately. I figure it's got to be healthier than cake! I totally understand your sweet cravings and concern to eat healthy for baby, though. Hang in there!

The dark chocolate coco dusted almonds Blue Diamond makes are freaking incredible. I'm obsessed with them.
