When is the right time?

In trying to plan my shower with my sister, we have wun into a scheduling dilemma. (Disclaimer, i have only ever been to 1 shower for a friend, I am the first in the fam and local friends to be having a baby, and i have no clue about baby shower timing).

I am due first week of May and wanted to get thoughts on when is the right time for a shower. We were thinking March, but i don't want to interfere with weekends for st pat's day(3-17) or easter (3-31). Is the first weekend of April getting to late? Should I try earlier in March?

I appreciate any and all advice.

If you are due the end of May, you will still have 8-9 weeks before your due date if you have your shower first week of April, right? 

I think that is way more than enough time.  Many women don't have their shower until they are 35, 36, 37+ weeks pregnant.

I am due May 3rd so my mom booked my shower for March 9th. My mom wanted to make sure I wouldn't be too uncomfortable and you never know if you might go a couple weeks early.

I'm due May 9th. My first shower is out of town and is set for March 2nd just to make sure I am still able to travel and not uncomfortable. Then I'm having another shower locally with my husband's family the first weekend in April. I think whatever works for you is totally fine.

I'm due May 2 and we opted for March 23rd.  I didn't want it to be in April just in case I am huge immobile uncomfortable and irritable (I mean more so than I am right now).  Also, I was afraid of the baby arriving early.

i think early april is fine if your due early may. it gives you a month. 

my shower is april 21st, and im due may 22nd.

I don't think it matters a huge amount one way or the other- even if you have it a month before your due date, it shouldn't take much more than a weekend to unpack your gifts, make any exchanges, etc.

All things being equal, I'd rather have a shower earlier in case the MTB does go into labor early, and it's always nice to have more time vs. less to get things ready.

I would honestly doubt St Pats is a big enough deal to require scheduling around... I don't know anyone who makes a great effort to celebrate, but that probably depends on your friends... I would think some would like something to do so they could let their husbands go drink a few green beers with the guys! And unless you're doing it late at night or early on Sunday morning you probably wouldn't interfere with people's drinking anyways. If that's the best weekend for you I'd just do it. Easter you definitely want to avoid because lots of people will be busy with family stuff.

My Shower is April 13th, and my due date is May 13th. I am a little nervous it is only a month before. But My parents will be in florida for the last two weeks for march. My mother in law will be gone the first week in april. It's cutting it close, but It's a tough time with spring break.
