FALSE POSITIVE?

my hubby and I have been TTC for over a year,i have PCOS, we went to the fertility specialist for 11 months and after a failed IUI attempt in October we stopped going, cost too much money for no results and became emotionally draining. So im on nothing except a baby aspirin a day and a prenatal. Tuesday 1/22 i got sick after lunch so i took a pregnancy test(clear blue digital) and low and be hold it said PREGNANT i was in shock, i took another one at 4:30 just for the heck of it and it said NOT PREGNANT, iv take two more and it says negative, but i cant hold my pee and that tuesday i didnt go for a while but now that i seem  to need to hold it i cant even waking up several times in the middle of the night to pee. My period isnt due until monday or tuesday so its still a little early but has this happened to anyone else? is it possible it was a false positive or HCG levels are still low and my urine has been diluted for the other test??!!

False positives are very rare so I am thinking your urine was just too diluted the other time. Try to hold your urine as long as possible and then take the test. The first time you use the bathroom in the morning is best because you have held it for longer amount of time. Good luck :)

Blue dye tests are notorious for false positives. Buy a pink dye test and test in the morning.

Call your OB-GYN and tell them you got conflicting results from home tests, ask the doctor to order a blood test, they're much more accurate.

She used a digital, so there was no mistake.

OP, try again using FMU tomorrow. I know you said you are getting up to pee at night - maybe try testing after the longest hold possible? I'm sorry you are getting conflicting results, and I really hope this is your BFP.

first morning is the best time to test because any HCG level will be at their highest if the other test where taken at other time of the day they could be dilluted, chances of a false negative (especially early on) are way more likely than a false positive. The other possibility is an early miscarriage where you pregnant but it didn't hold. Take another morning test, if you miss your period, i am all for blood tests. If i truely think i am pregnant i just call my doctors and ask them to send an order for a blood test. nothing bets a blood test.

I would try again first thing in the morning. I think it is nearly impossible to get a false positive out of a digital.

hold your urine for a few hours and do not drink anything for a few hours. your urine was probably diluted.

my experience: when i found out i was pregnant, i tested with fmu, and two tests said positive. they were the clear blue plus ones. i thought they were false positives because i heard that blue dye can do that. so i went to the store and bought frer, the pink line test, and a frer digital. i took those two tests after only holding my urine for 2 hrs with nothing to drink, and they were positive as well.

also, i'm pretty sure i have read/heard that digital tests are not as sensitive as the normal ones.

BUT< I wanted  to share my experience.. a year ago when I did get pregnant, I got  a "PREGNANT" urine test in the middle of the day, so excited  as I was, I called my OBGYN and she had me go in that same day.. she ran 2 of their urine tests and THOSE were NEGATIVE... so I went back home, completely upset, and did another test that I had.... and THat one was negative also..  I called my OBGYN and requested to have blood drawn.. she did..

 

Results the next day? My betas were 185.. definately pregnant.. (unfortunately that ended in m/c) BUT regardless, False NEGATIVES are more common.

 

I suggest you have betas drawn. Good luck!

When I was TTC # 2 I checked Amazon b/c I wanted to buy some Clear Blue Digi's and was wondering if they were cheaper online.  I decided to just stick with FRER's b/c there were a decent amount of comments on Amazon about people getting false +'s with the CB digitals. 

I would pick up a FRER and test again tomorrow AM.

I had a False Positive last month with a digital test. The only way to know is wait and see if AF comes and if not test again.

I had this happen to me last year. I had my dr draw blood and it was confirmed I was pregnant, but my hcg levels were really low. I ended up having a chemical m/c.

Your period isn't even due until Monday/Tuesday.

Wait until Tuesday/Wednesday morning and test wtih FMU.

It WAS a FALSE positive, and seems clearblue digital has had several since Nov 2012 so becareful!
