carin123:I went for the Gestational Diabetes test last Saturday and my doctor called me today saying I didn't pass. Their cut off is 130 and mine was 148. And I now have to sit for the three hour test. Has anyone had to do this and the three hour test come back fine? I just need to know that there is hope lol. I have never had an issue with high blood sugar before but the doctor said during pregnancy that doesn't matter. Thoughts/experiences please!
I just did this in December. My 1 hr test was a miserable failure. My doctor said passing was 140 and I was a 184. Diabetes runs in my family (4 generations) so they told me with numbers that high I didn't even need to bother with the 3 hr if I didn't want to. Well, a 2nd opinion is always better than just trusting the 1st, so I sat for the exam anyway.
I aced it with extremely low numbers. My fasting blood level (before drinking liquid) was a 99 and all three test hours never went above 120. So I wouldn't worry about it.
And even if you do fail the 3 hour test, it doesn't mean that you or the baby will have diabetes after birth. You'll just have to watch what you eat and at what times you eat it. Good Luck to you.
