Duplicate Registries Iteams?

Hi ladies looking for some advice. I have 2 registries. 1 at BRU and the other on Amazon. The Amazon Registry is pretty complete and detailed. The BRU is not as detailed because we just couldn't find the right style and such. We are more organic based (cloth diapering, organic clothing) plus at BRU there was not a huge selection of gender neutral items.

So my question is do I need to have the same items on both registries. Or if it is not the same item something similar like a puj tun(amazon) do I need to put a tub on BRU?

Do you want to get duplicates? Only put items on one registry if you only want one.

I agree that items should only go one on registry unless it's something you'll need several of (i.e. towels, wipes, shampoo, etc.).

It's a pet peeve of mine when there is more than one registry and similar items are on both...I wonder if the parents really want 2 strollers or 2 bath tubs, or if I buy it from one store, has someone else already bought it from another?  I always skip those items that I see on both because I'm worried about giving a duplicate.

I had a friend that registered at BBB, BRU, and Target, and at her shower she ended up getting 2 or 3 of several items that she only wanted 1 of, because people were shopping at different stores.

Definitely don't put duplicates on unless you want more than one. I registered at two different places. Together, they make up one registry worth of items.

I would only register for what you really want.  However, I was registered at both BRU and Amazon and my entire BRU registry was completed with only a few gifts purchased off Amazon.  I think when it comes to baby gear, people really like to go out and buy it versus ordering online, at least in my experience.

My bff registered for like 4 strollers, 3 infant carseats, etc between 3 registries. Not to mention, she ended up getting 4 diaper bags...it seemed really unorganized to me. Stick to 1 of everything, aside from diapers, towels, etc. It will save you the time of returning and exchanging after your showers.

I agree, one item at one store (not two).  A family member recently registered and put similar items on her registries at different stores but they were different brands and patterns.  Nobody knew what she actually wanted so she got a lot of gift cards instead.

It's a tricky situation as all PP's point out.  Sometimes people will check multiple registries and then decide where to shop.  In that case, you may find that people won't buy those items for fear of buying duplicates.

However, as another poster noted, some people avoid online registries (esp. for showers) because they don't necessarily buy that far in advance (maybe a week) and worry the item won't arrive on time.  (That's me.  I don't buy off the net for parties I have to attend because it's either a rush fee half the time or I stress it won't get there.)

If one is online and one is in person, I personally would go ahead and register for both, esp. if you don't mind dealing with returns or wouldn't be upset if you had a duplicate of the item.  Another thing you can do is "registry stalk," which does take some of the fun out of the shower if you know what's been purchased (or you can make DH do it since he probably doesn't care) and as you do, go back then and remove items from Registry A that get purchased off of Registry B.  You can usually do this online for most registries that I know.  (I know I edited mine when DH & I found a good deal at a different store and removed an item from our registry accordingly so we wouldn't get it at the shower.)

Good luck!

Thank you ladies for all the suggestions. I for sure do not want to return a ton of stuff because. My hubbys family side is hosting the shower only about  4 weeks before LO possible arrival so returns don't sound fun.

Hopefully more people are becoming open to online because at BRU we have crib sheets, toys, blankets and pacifiers all the must haves are really online. Oh well better to post what you really intend on using instead of getting stuff that really will just take back.

i hate when people put duplicates... i've been to many showers where people put duplicates on registries, and end up getting 3 coffee makers or 3 different infant tubs. Just put the 1 item, either on the amazon or BRU registry. If someone really wants to get it for you, they will.
