reflux, colic or just fussy?

We had DD#2's 2 month well visit on monday, and the doctor "thinks" she has a reflux problem and a problem digesting protein. Her diapers have been very runny and seem to have curds in the stool, but other than that no crazy symptoms.  Basically for the past 2 months she has been screaming ALOT! she eats fine, spits up a normal amount and gained almost 5 lbs in about 7 weeks. she just HATES being in her swing and bouncy seat, she wants to be held or wants me laying right beside her on the floor next to her play mat. All this would be really easy if i didn't have a VERY active 18month old that also wants mommy's attention.

Has anyone else been diagnosed with reflux and the protein thing? Or any suggestions on what the actual cause might be? We have had her on Similac Alimentum and on an antacid since monday and the screaming has gotten worse!

DD#1 never had any digestive issues and was very independent and didn't mind playing alone. So I'm totally clueless on what to do, I really just want her to be happy and not so miserable :( TIA!

DS has reflux and is on Zantac. While we saw some improvement, we saw more once we added probiotics.  While they can be expensive (we use BioGaia), they seem to help his colic symptoms.  Our next step was alimentum, but hopefully we won't have to change formulas!

THIS ... Except we already switched to alimentum when DD was 1 month old. Like you I have a very active almost 17 month old and it is hard. Luckily I went through this with DS so when DD started I knew what the problem was. Give the Zantac and alimentum time to work ... Sometimes it can take a week or two. For sure add the probiotic.

We were dealing with what we thought was colic for 3+ weeks. At their 2 month appt, the pedi suggested trying zantac to see if it's silent reflux. 3 days later, no more screaming for 5 straight hours at night. I would try the zantac or whatever reflux meds your pedi suggests. It wouldn't hurt to do dairy elimination to see if that helps too. GL!

DD had a protein sensitivity and Alimentum worked wonders. My pedi said to give it 2 weeks to fully take effect. FYI if you do have to use it, insurance may over it. My pedi just had to submit a prescription and a letter that it was medically necessary. It wa 100% covered and a supply for the whole month was delivered by fed ex to our door. Worth looking into with your insurance since it is very expensive. GL!

Thanks ladies! We have a follow up appointment in 2 weeks, so hopefully it will have taken effect by then :)
