So I have been having contractions all day. I timed them for about an hour earlier today and they were about 7-8 minutes apart lasting about 1.5 minutes each. I have a ton of lower back pain that feels like I'm going to start my period (my periods are really painful- so to me they are similar to menstrual pain). They are SUPER intense but I wouldn't really say painful. I just went to the grocery store to walk a little (it's really cold here!) and now my back is hurting a little more. I feel SUPER nauseous and just blah/off...
I've heard when you're in labor you know it..so I have no intention of calling until they get more painful, but just curious as if anyone experienced something like this and it turned into labor or if it went away after a while?
I have a girlfriend who was in prodromal labor for weeks with her first before actually going into labor.
When did you doctor tell you to call? Most don't base it on the pain, but the frequency at which the contracts are occurring.
I had contractions every 3 minutes for a couple of days, but as soon as my water broke my contractions got immediately painful and much more intense. It's not the same for everyone, but if they aren't painful I'd say you're probably still in early stages/not active labor.

I'm finishing week #4 already. It sucks.
Hopefully you have better luck!
Yes, at 40 week 3 days it started with DS. 6-10 minutes apart for 34 hours. It was horrible. I went to the hospital that night and was not dilated. I went to my OB next day and was 2cm. By 11pm that night they went to 3 minutes apart. When I drive t the hospital, I was 3cm and and hour after I was at 4cm. It ended up being 34 hours of predominal labor and 14 hours of active labor. It could be very soon! Good luck!
Rose120:but she said I should call before coming to the hospital because she will be able to save me a trip based on hearing my voice if I need to come or not.
I think that's really effing stupid. Contractions don't feel good by any means, but everyone has a different pain tolerance, especially in early labor.

I couldn't agree more.
