I cant tell! What is this ultrasound picture of??? 20 weeks.

http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w334/ken_wbahs/image_zpsed892e32.jpg

The doctor doesn't show us the pictures so I never had an opportunity to ask him. He only asked if we wanted to know the gender and if we had any questions. I asked if everything looked normal and good. He said yes and wrote the sex on a post it note for us. We didn't see the pictures till we were home. I was expecting more information from the doctor to just tell us, I wasn't prepared to be asking him questions. I expected the pictures to say "face" "right arm" "left foot" and such on them.

:/ We got 9 pictures on the disk. 6 face shots (not even a side profile) a foot, a hand, and what this picture is of. ????

When he handed me the post it note. I asked how sure he was of the sex and he. Responded with "we'll I've never been wrong". I though ok, but that still doesn't answer my question. He said it was boy.
I this the "toilet shot" that's my best guess???:/

Looks like an arm/hand curled to me. I can't believe you didn't get to watch. I've always either had the screen or a projection on a tv to watch.

We got to watch it but the ultrasound tech isn't aloud to say much because she is only the tech not the doctor, I guess. Like she said here's the head and that's about it.

Is it normal for the doctor to just say "have any questions" "yep everything looked good" then send us on our way. I feel very uncomfortable that he didn't go over it with us and explain why it was good and why in what ever picture it's a boy. :/

Can't see the photo at work, but at 20 weeks a penis is pretty obvious. If he said boy, then it's a boy.

Sounds like you just had an unhelpful tech; they have to label the photos and last time my tech was happy to point out landmarks.

IMO the bottom object is a leg (with the foot on the left facing away from the 'camera'), and the top one is the knee on the other leg.

For a low risk, "normal" pregnancy, that's pretty normal.

If you have a question or want to discuss the u/s, then say that. I'm sure he'd give you the information that you're looking for.

I agree.  It looks like a leg and I'm guessing they were using this to measure the length of the bone.  I'm surprised they didn't let you watch.  If you have another u/s, ask to watch.  I do u/s (not babies, but hearts and vascular) and I would always let a patient watch as long as it didn't obstruct me from being able to see the screen.

Don't laugh, but your U/S made me think of roast chicken, and now I'm tempted to get one of those supermarket rotisserie chickens. Anyway,  to answer your question looks like a leg to me. If his legs were open it should be fairly easy to tell the sex at 20 wks. If it were a girl you would see the hamburger (3 little lines btwn the legs) Hope this helps.

Looks like an arm and a hand to me. I'm sorry you had such an unhelpful tech. But I'm not shy about asking "What's that?" during my ultrasounds. I try to stay quiet so that the tech can concentrate on their work. Which is why your tech was so quiet. There's a disclaimer right on the screen in the room where I get my ultrasounds "I apologize if I am quiet, I am concentrating on your scan". They have a lot of things they need to measure/take pics of for your Dr to make sure everything is growing right and doesn't have any problems. I imagine that can be pretty difficult.

I've gotten really super quiet techs before, but I've also gotten techs that kind of narrate as they go along "Now I am trying to see the ....." "Now I'm going to take measurements of the ....."

I'm sorry you got a quiet tech, but that just means that your tech wasn't great at multi-tasking. Maybe try taking the unknown picture with to your next appt and see if your Dr can tell you what it is?

Yes this is normal.  The doctor doesn't have time to explain the pictures to you for fun.  They are only concerned that the measurements are normal.
