Middle Name Dilemma

My mother's first name is Lyn and my middle name is Lyn (Amy Lyn), so ever since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to give my daughter the middle name Lyn. We've discussed a lot of names, and don't want to "name" her until she's born in case the name doesn't fit but one name that we both LOVED as soon as we heard it was Lucy. My dilemma is I'm not sure how "Lucy Lyn" sounds together. I don't want to give up Lyn-- who knows if we'll have another daughter, but I don't want it to be too cutesy. Husband likes it but I just need reassurance so I don't become too attached to Lucy if it sounds awful. Any thoughts?

I think it sounds fine, and she will go by Lucy anyways. No one will be calling her Lucy Lyn, unless it's you or your DH, when she gets into trouble. ;)

Im not nuts about the 2 together personally. Is it a possiblity to incorporate Lyn into the middle name? Like using Raelyn, Evelyn, Caitlyn, Carolyn, etc?

I actually like it... Lucy Lyn.  The risk I see is that people may want to use in on a more regular basis since it does flow so well together.  I could see relatives calling her Lucy Lyn instead of just Lucy.

PS-  Love Lucy!

I actually really like Lucy Lyn (I LOVE the name Lucy), and I think that as long as your last name doesn't start with "L" the alliteration is kinda nice.

Not many people outside family and close friends will know her middle name anyway. And I think any issues you may have about the two names combined should be trumped by the significance of the middle name and with the fact that you both love the first name.

Lucy Lyn sounds great!  We are actually looking into double L's ourselves.  I think it may only be a problem if last name is an L too, but not too big of a deal.

It's too cutesy sounding for me personally. But Lucy is a great name.  It's not like you're debating naming her Linda Lyn or anything so I don't it's a big deal.

Agree with this entirely. I think it's cute and I like alliteration (my DD is Johanna Joy and we might do alliteration again--maybe Allison Anne--for possible DD#2).

I don't think it sounds awesome, but I think you should do it anyway. I wouldn't give up a first name I loved to satisfy a MN tradition that I wanted to uphold. So I think you should just do both if you can't give up Lyn.
